Student Clubs and Activities—Multiple clubs, organizations and activi-ties are available at KHS. Each has its own purpose, function and mem-bership requirements. Some may, also, require ASB membership for participation. As the new year begins, we will be informing students of the various times and dates of these clubs and activities during the Third Hour Announcements. We will also list them in the Bulletin as soon as the times and dates are established. American Sign Language Group—This is a group of current and
former American Sign Language students who meet at lunch on Monday Mornings in Portable 1 to enjoy a Silent Lunch Conversa-tion using the sign language skills they have learned.
Key Club—is having a recruiting party this Friday at lunch. We will be having pizza and discussing future club activities and services.
Robotics Computer and Technology Club (RTAC) - is designed for those with an interest in Computer Science and all things comput-ers.
Free and Reduced Lunch Applications—It’s that time of year to start thinking about renewing your application for free and reduced school meals. Students who have not yet filled out an application for the cur-rent school year will automatically become full pay on October 12th. Student lunches are $2.90 and breakfast is $1.80. To ensure sufficient time to process your application, please have it returned by October 3rd. You may apply online or a paper version is available from the school cashier or the front office. Career Center News— Students, please get in the habit of checking
your school emails. These emails contain im-portant information about FAFSA, scholarships, PSAT, SAT, and other announcements.
Juniors and Seniors who DO NOT want to be contacted about mili-tary opportunities, please stop by the career center to cross your name off of the list.
Parking—All students who drive and park on school district property need to have a visibly displayed parking permit. Please see Security to get a FREE parking pass. Tickets will be issued to those not having a visibly displayed permit.
Lion Pride—Keep our Grounds Clean—Students, please re-member to put garbage in trash cans, both on and off cam-pus. Let’s show our EKU pride by keeping our school campus and surrounding areas clean!

Student Volunteer Opportunities Eastgate Elementary library is looking for volunteers! Hours
could be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 2:30-3:00 or 2:30-3:15 and on Thursdays 2:30-3:30. This person would help set up for art club and they could stay later to help with art club as well. Wednesdays hours would be 10:45-11:15 or 11:30 and sometime in-between 12:30-3:00. Duties included are: cleaning shelves, shelving books, straightening shelves, turn off comput-ers, set up tables, chairs and paint supplies. Gear Up News— Governor Jay Inslee has proclaimed this week as National Gear
Up Week. He is urging all people to join him in this special ob-servation. Gear Up focuses on increasing numbers of students staying in education after high school by attending colleges, universities and trade schools.
Cross Country News—On Wednesday, the Kennewick Cross Country team went down to the Gorge and competed at scenic Hood River, Oregon. The Lion Boys finished eighth and John Correa finished sec-ond overall with a 17:01 time. The girls team finished fifth and were led by Freshman Geraldin Correa who place eighth overall and Paige Raebel who finished tenth. The Lions start league competition on Thursday in Walla Walla.
