This is certainly a different time and a different newsletter. Because there has been a significant decrease in the amount of activity here at school, there is much less to report. We are still in a holding pattern in terms of what the rest of the school year will look like. We know there is no state testing this year and we know there have been many events either postponed or cancelled. However, as farfetched as it may seem, we are still hoping that May 4th is a return date for staff and students. Please know that we are all making the best of the situation by adhering to the governor’s requests and trying to provide a quality education for our students, but there is noth-ing that will replace the life that our kids breathe into the building each day. We desperately miss them all and the day to day contact between staff and students. I can’t say thanks enough to our teachers, parents and students for their patience and hard work. I want to say a double thanks to all of our parents in the health care industry and those that support all of us. We will get through this crazy time and if we have the strength to remember the appreciation we have for each other, we will be better people than when it started. If you have questions, please call 937-596-6053 or email [email protected].
Happy
Easter!
Academic Awards Programs for 6th – 12th Grade Students *Depending on orders from Governor DeWine
The tentative date for the Academic Awards Program will be
Grades 6-8 Tuesday, May 12th at 8:30am
Grades 9-12 Tuesday, May 12th, at 10:00am
Location: Auxiliary Gymnasium.
All parents are welcome to join us as we award our students for their hard work throughout this school year!
Happy April to all. It is hard to believe what the new normal has become. I am sure you are all like me and never would have thought that something like this would occur and shut down things we all take for grant-ed. I realize that the impact goes much further than education, but what our students are having to deal with is huge in their young lives. Many events have been postponed or canceled, their homes have become their classrooms, their social lives have been put on hold, not to mention the unknown of when and what will become “normal” again.
I want to thank the community, the parents, teachers, and most importantly the students. The continued dedication to make the most of the situation and help each other through the hard times is commended. All involved have had to develop ways to navigate the schoolwork at home and through technology. And due to the dedication on both sides, it has been a success. The teachers and administration are working on all the missed events and trying to figure out ways to allow the students to still participate in everything that would have occurred, although no promises can be made.
I want to encourage all of you to continue to develop routines for the students to complete their assign-ments, encourage them to get out and be active, and encourage them to communicate with their teachers. At this time, communication is more important than ever. I know the teachers are eager and willing to help out in any way they can. Please feel free to contact me as well at [email protected] , because as I am sure you have heard “We are all in this together. “
Jeff Reese, Principal
Our First 4th Grade Millionaire of the Year- Kiersten Roberts!
Our 4th & 5th Grade students have enthusiastically taken on our Word Count challenged. They are trying to read as many words as possible, this school year. The students then take an AR reading quiz on the book they have read, and if they pass, the student earns the total word count for that book. Kiersten Robert’s is our first 4th grade student to reach one million words. She has worked diligently to read 1,038,679 words this year! Each week, Kiersten continues to impress us with her reading dedica-tion. Our Word Count Chart is located in the Elementary wing, second floor, if you would like to see all of our motivated readers this year.
