    The good news is that more and morewomen are being diagnosed early andsurviving this disease, largely becauseof increased awareness. Awareness is a primary goal at MidCoast Hospital’s Breast Health Centerand of the Center’s coordinator, KimLynch, RN. Kim and Deb Wallace, RNare experts at helping patients navigatethe system, sharing their experienceand lending support. Our multi-disciplinary team includes radiationoncologists, surgeons, pathologists,nurses, occupational therapists,nutritionists, and pharmacists. Mid Coast uses state-of-the art diag-nostic technology, such as breast MRI,which helps doctors search moreaccurately for additional cancer sitesbefore surgery. In the very near futurewe will be one of the few facilities inMaine offering MRI breast biopsies.We’re also looking forward to a newdigital mammography machine in2006—the latest in high resolutiontechnology. We have a terrific breast cancersupport group, and a new group forpatients with recurrent breast cancer.We also offer a comprehensive breastrehabilitation program.     Building a healthiercommunity

    Mid Coast Hospital is a member of the Maine Breast andCervical Health Program, which provides free mammogramsand pap smears to women age 50 and over who can’t afford them.
