Tributes paid to aColossus of a manTRIBUTES have been paid tovisionary computer pioneerTony Sale who has died, aged80.Mr Sale worked at Bletchley

Park and led the team thatrebuilt Colossus, the world'sfirst modern computer.During the war the original

Colossus 'computers hadbeen designed and built todecipher the Lorenz-encryptedmessages of the German HighCommand.The successful decryption of

these messages is credited withshortening the war by manymonths and saving thousandsof lives.Working with small
