TheEstillCountySheriff’sDepartmentreportsthattwoIrvinemenwerearrestedearlyMonday,andalargequantityofmeth-amphetaminewasconfiscated. DeputyChrisCoffeysaidheobserveda2004ChevypasshimontheRichmondRoadaround3:18a.m.ashewaspullingoutofSave-A-Lotparkinglot. Headdedtherearlicenseplatewasnotilluminatedsoheattemptedtomakeatraf-ficstoponit. HesaidthevehiclecontinuedonuntilitfinallypulledoveratStopandShop. CoffeysaidheandIrvineOfficerJason

Conradcouldsmelltheodorofmarijuanacomingfromthevehicle.Asearchwasmadeuponthevehicle. Thedriver,CharlesJ.Nutter,40,ofHoodAvenue,toldtheofficersthatablackbackpackwashis.Itcontainedseveralneedles,ascale,andlotsofbaggies. OfficerConradreportedthathefoundaneyeglasscaseinanotherbackpack. Asearchofthevehicleandtheback-packsreportedlyturnedup40.46gramsofmethamphetamine.Nutterallegedlyhad$46inhispossession.

AnEstillCountymanwasindictedJune28bytheGrandjuryonafelonychargeandfourmisdemeanorcharges. ThemanwasidentifiedasBrianC.Bow-man,29,ofBluebirdLane,Irvine. The indictmentchargesBowmanwithpossessionofacontrolledsubstance,firstdegreeandfirstoffense.Itstatesthathepos-sessedmethamphetamineonApril9. ThisfourmisdemeanorchargesagainstBowmanincludepublic intoxicationofa

controlledsubstance,resistingarrest,fleeingorevadingpolice,seconddegree(onfoot)anddrugparaphernalia-buy/possess. TheindictmentstatesthatBowmantriedtopreventSheriffChrisFlynnfrommakinganarrestandfledonfoot.Heallegedlyhadseveralsyringesandapipenhispossession. If foundguiltyof thefelony,Bowmancouldbesentencedtoonetofiveyearsinprison.Thefourmisdemeanorsarepunish-ablebyupto12monthsinjailandfines.

TheKentuckyStatePo-lice,RichmondPostinves-tigatedafatalcollisionthatoccurred on Irvine Road(KY-52)nearBybeeLoopRoad in Madison Countyjustafter1:50pmTuesday,July2. The initial investigationindicates that a 2008 Ma-roon Toyota Highlander,operatedbyKimberlyIsaa-cs,35yearsoldof Irvine,KY, attempted to make aleftturnintoadrivewayjusteastofBybee,KY,whenitcollidedwitha2011Gray

Toyota Camry that wastravelingeast,operatedbyFarrisMarcum,57yearsoldofIrvine. Asa resultof thecolli-sion, Farris Marcum wastransported to the Univer-sity of Kentucky Hospitalwith injuries, andhispas-senger,DonnaR.Marcum,56yearsoldofIrvine,waspronounced deceased atthe scene by the MadisonCountyCoroner. Mr.MarcumistheownerofFarrisMarcum’sautore-pair shop on River Drive.

The business has beenclosed due to his injuriesandhiswife’sdeath. Funeral services wereheldforhiswifeonMon-dayafternoon.AcompleteobituaryappearsonPage6. The ongoing investiga-tionisbeingconductedbyKSPPost7TroopersGaryCooperandDavidHobbs.They were assisted at thescene by KSP Personnel,Madison County EMS,Madison County Fire &Rescue, and the MadisonCountyCoroner.
