Readingdo it every day
Each night you should complete at least 15-20 minutes of reading. You can read to an adult in your house; share
the reading with an adult or a sibling; you can read to yourself; or preferably, do a combination of these things
over the week. As you complete your reading each night, fill the Reading Record that you designed in class. At
the end of the week you will show Mr Chris your progress with your reading and how you have recorded it.
Language Arts
Prefixes and Dictionary Skills
One word we often see spelt incorrectly is in this unit is disorganised. Take special care to spell this word
correctly in the next few weeks. Disorganised has the prefix dis.
Prefixes are added to words to change their meaning . Some examples of prefixes are un (untidy),
dis (dissatisfied), im (impossible). These particular prefixes change the meaning of the root word to its
opposite.
Use a dictionary to find five words that start with each of these 3 prefixes (un, dis, im) - choose words that you
could use in your writing. (that is 15 words) Record these words neatly in your Homework Book. Choose the five
most interesting words and write them each in an interesting sentence (use a new line for each sentence).
Practice your Photography SkillsOn Monday we learnt some great tips on how to take a really good photographs. Use a digital camera to take some really
interesting photos around your home. Choose your five best photographs and upload these pictures to the class Flickr
Account. Put the photos in a set called Your Name Home. Choose the best one and upload it to the class blog. See Mr Chris
EARLY in the week if you need some help learning how to do this.
