When citizens of Texas took up arms to win their freedom in 1836, the budding Republic called on William
Nash to recruit volunteers from among the settlers in East Texas. For his valor, leadership and service
fighting among those volunteers, Nash was awarded the land that today forms the heart of Wynne Ranch.
For four more generations of the Nash family, the Ranch played a major role in the economy an social life of
Kaufman County, providing the foundation for the city’s First National Bank and its oil mill. During the
ensuing years the Ranch would come to play an even larger role across the state and the nation.
The Ranch's gently rolling terrain, multiple stocked fishing ponds and majestic oak trees was the perfect
setting for family gatherings through the generations. The Wynnes welcomed many guests. At least one
guest would change the flavor of American cuisine and yet another would become one of the most
notorious figures of the history of crime. In 1926, Mama Adelaida Cuellar began making her soon-to-be
famous tamales on the Ranch and selling them at the Kaufman County Fair along with enchiladas and chili
made from products grown on the ranch. Using her profit, Cuellar opened a café in Kaufman where her
sons learned the recipes that would be the foundation of their own restaurant in Dallas called El Chico. By
the 1950s, “Mama’s Boys,” as they were known in Dallas, were operating five restaurants. The Cuellar
brothers later established El Chico restaurants throughout Texas and the Southwest.
A few years after the Cuellar story began, Bonnie and Clyde made a fateful stop in Kaufman. In 1932 the
two outlaws and their gang had a few safe houses close to the Wynne Ranch. They robbed a hardware
store in Kaufman where they hoped to steal guns but the robbery went awry and Bonnie was captured.
While the Kaufman grand jury eventually declined to indict, it was during the intervening months stuck in
the Kaufman County jail that Bonnie penned her infamous poem “The Story of Suicide Sal”.

Toddie Lee Wynne, Sr. was himself a member of a large East Texas family and had built a successful career as an
oilman and attorney in Dallas. Together with his friend Clint Murchison, Sr., Toddie Lee owned and operated
American Liberty Oil Company (AMLICO) and served as an investor or developer in a network of businesses that
included Six Flags Over Texas, the Daytona International Speedway and the planned community of Wynnewood.
Toddie Lee Wynne Jr. was an original owner and founder of the Dallas Cowboys Football Club in 1960. Alongside all
these ventures the Wynnes continued to run cattle on the Ranch which would quickly become synonymous with
the Wynne family name. It was at the Ranch where Toddie Lee and Imogen (Imogen Young Wynne's Mother was a
Nash) were affectionately known as “Fat Dad” and “Big Mimi” by their children and grandchildren.
Since those times of the oil boom and outlaws, new generations of Wynnes have worked to build on the long legacy
of their family. Toddie Lee Wynne, Jr. co-founded the real estate company of Wynne/Jackson and developed the
Plaza of the Americas. The first Cattle Baron’s Ball was held on a part of the Ranch in 1974 with the proceeds
benefitting the American Cancer Society. That year Charlie Pride headlined the main show for a crowd with Tom
Landry in attendance. Cattle Baron’s Ball has since gone on to become the American Cancer Society’s largest
fundraiser raising over $40 million dollars for cancer research.
The Wynne family also established and continues to support the Yellow Rose Gala Foundation. The
Foundation was first established by founders Dee and Jimmy Wynne in April 1986 shortly after Dee’s
diagnosis with multiple sclerosis. From 1986-2001 the gala became one of the most successful social events
in Dallas, netting over $5 million for MS research. Wynne’s disease eventually prevented her from continuing
with the gala but it didn’t impede the imprint she made. The final fundraiser, in 2001, was one for the record
books. It netted over $2 million with performances by The Eagles, Stevie Nicks and Trisha Yearwood.
Following Dee Wynne’s passing in 2014 and in honor of her memory, the Gala has since been reestablished
by her children, Todd Wynne and Fallon Wynne Way, with the help of young active community leaders and
past Yellow Rose supporters. The Yellow Rose Gala Foundation is an active 501 (c)(3) that has the drive and
vision to forever rid the world of MS. Through this initiative the Yellow Rose Gala Foundation is partnering
with the National MS Society where 100% of the net proceeds raised go directly to Progressive MS research.
• Coyote
Wynne Ranch is home to a large population of coyotes providing year-round predator calling in many rolling openparts of the ranch.
• Dove
Mourning Dove nest in high numbers across the property and feed on the area crops, flocking to the tanks during peakhunting seasons. There is great opportunity to cultivate smaller food plots for more high-intensity hunting and pondhopping.
• Duck
The abundance of water on the property offers a mix of: Canvas Backs, Mallard, Pintail, Red Head, Teal, Wood Duckand more with excellent pond hopping hunting. Larger tanks also offer great opportunities to hunt from numerousduck blind locations. The property is located in the flyway route where ducks nest and roost at the John Bunker SandsWetland Center, located 5 miles northwest in Seagoville.
• Geese
Seasonal Canadian and Snow Geese migrate through the property providing a short but effective 1-2 week huntingseason during the November and December months where hundreds of geese flock to all of the ponds across theranch.
• Hogs
A healthy population of feral hogs can be found along Kings Creek which is the southern border of Parcel B. Thisbottomland provides dense cover and excellent hunting.
• Whitetail Deer
Whitetail are not plentiful but can be found in the lower areas of the property in the dense oaks along the western sideof the property. Deer have not been hunted on the property giving buyers a fresh start to management and hunting.
• Historical Hunting at Wynne Ranch
Wynne Ranch has been hunted by family and friends during seasonal hunting months, mainly for coyote, dove, duckand occasional geese. There are currently no hunting blinds or deer feeders on the property which provides anexcellent opportunity for new wildlife management and hunting practices. There is an abundance of wildlife and eachportion of the ranch offers different styles of hunting from the moderate mesquite laden pastures which areexceptional for hunting migratory birds and waterfowl to the dense oak and cedar elm groves with open areas that areideal for hunting whitetail.
The 2015-2016 hunting seasons were very strong where limits were quickly collected on dove and ducks. Kaufmanaverages 41.01 inches of rainfall per year, which is 5.36 inches more than the State of Texas average.

There are eleven ponds on the 800-acre Parcel A and three ponds on the 240-acre Parcel B providingan abundance of water for fish and game. The largest of these lakes is “Nash Lake” which isapproximately 5-acres and sits on the western portion of Parcel A in an open pasture lined with oakand mesquite.
• Fishing
Fishing ponds at the Wynne Ranch have been fully stocked with mature bass, bream and crappie andprovide excellent year-round fishing. Grab a fishing pole and your spinning beetle or favorite wormlure and catch your fill of fish at any water hole on the property. Most ponds are open enough for flyfishing which can be very successful at sundown.
