2018 IOWA TRUCK DRIVING
CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2018 Iowa Truck Driving Championships took
place June 14th—15th. Heyl Truck Lines was honored
to be represented by Les Packer and Juan Moreno.
Approximately 103 professional truck drivers partici-
pated in the two day event. All the drivers were test-
ed in four areas; pre-trip vehicle inspection, written
exam, personal interview and driving skills. There
were eight classes of competition, 3 axle van, 4 axle
van, 5 axle van, flatbed, tank, twin trailers, straight
truck and sleeper berth.
The truck driving championships are sponsored by
the Iowa Motor Truck Association and the Iowa
Council of Safety Management. This is the only com-
petition that is held for professional truck drivers and
the caliber of participants is outstanding. The Iowa
Motor Truck Association is a trade association locat-
ed in Des Moines and represents the interest of the trucking industry in Iowa.

In memory of
Dana Prescott
It is with great sadness that we an-
nounce the passing of one of our
longtime drivers, Dana Prescott.
Dana spent over 14 years driving
with Heyl and accumulated over
1.5 million miles. It was an honor to
work with Dana and he will be
greatly missed.
Please keep his family and friends
in your thoughts and prayers.

We are very excited to announce we will be
offering members enrolled in our health plan
the opportunity to utilize a new service for
their health care through Teladoc. Teladoc
is one of the leading telemedicine providers
in the United States and has provided a
great opportunity for our members to utilize
their program.
Teladoc is a 24/7 telephonic/virtual care
program allowing members to speak with a
U.S. board-certified doctor. Teladoc also
comes at a lower out of pocket cost—$20
copay! The doctor will suggest treatment
options and can even arrange for a pre-
scription while you are on the phone, video
or app. Teladoc doctors can treat many
medical conditions—cold & flu, allergies,
pink eye, respiratory infections, sinus prob-
lems, skin issues, and more!
This program will be available to us begin-
ning July 1st, 2018, but you must be enrolled before you are able to use it. Please watch for a mail
piece coming to you from Teladoc that will guide you through the enrollment process. Also, watch for
new ID cards from UMR that will include Teladoc contact information.

Happy
Anniversary
Happy Anniversary to Mark
Padgett and his wife, Barb!
This month marks 10 years of
marriage and 20 years they’ve
been together! Mark and Barb
met through a mutual friend in
Zephyrhills. Together, they love
to watch movies, canoe, and
go camping.
Sioux City’s annual RIBFEST was
held June 23-24 at the Hard Rock
Hotel & Casino. Heyl’s very own
Russ Hauser and Perry Nelson
were among 27 teams who com-
peted in the Ribs and Chicken
category. They took home 4th
place in Ribs and 9th place over-
all! Congratulations to Russ and
Perry!
All funds raised at RIBFEST support
programs for kids and adults with
disabilities at Camp High Hopes,
a local non-profit in Sioux City, IA.
Coming Summer 2018...
We are excited to announce that driver facilities
are in the process of being upgraded at our
Akron and Zephyrhills Terminals!
The Akron terminal will be closing down “The
Hilton” and implementing 24/7 access to a
restroom with shower, laundry, and lounge area
all in the Safety Building.
The Zephyrhills terminal will be upgrading their
current driver amenities.
Thank you—Heyl Management
