THE INSTITUTE:
Kaivalyadhama Shreeman Madhava Yoga
Mandira Samiti, ( K.S.M.Y.M. Samiti), which is
responsible for the foundation, conductance
and management of GORDHANDAS
SEKSARIA COLLEGE OF YOGA & CULTURAL
SYNTHESIS, is recognized by the Central and
Maharashtra State Governments as a
Research Institute and has been getting
Grants from these Governments for its
Scientific and Philosophico-Literary Research
in Yoga. The Samiti’s research has been
greatly appreciated by scientists and scholars,
both in India and abroad.
YOGA COLLEGE:
College was founded at Lonavla by Swami
Kuvalayananda under the auspices of
Kaivalyadhama S.M.Y.M. Samiti. Late Shri
B.G.Kher, the then Chief Minister, Mumbai
State, formally inaugurated the college in
October 1951. Since then the college has
continued in sending out batches of students
every year without any break till date. The first
convocation was held in May 1953 when the
Hon. Shri Dinkar Rao Desai, the then Minister
of Education, Mumbai State, presided and
Shri H. V. Divetia, Vice-Chancellor, Gujarat
University, delivered the Convocational
Address.
RECOGNITION:
The College has been recognized as one of
the special Colleges by the Government of
Maharashtra and by N.C.T.E., GOVT. OF INDIA.
It also has recognition from C.S.I.R. (Council
of Scientific & Industrial Research).
LOCATION:
The College is located at Lonavla, a small hill
station on the Central Railway line between
Pune and Mumbai. Lonavla is 128 kms. from
Mumbai and 64 kms. from Pune. Railway
trains are available at 1 to 2 hours of intervals
from both sides. The Kaivalyadhama campus
is about 2 kms. from Lonavla station. Taxis

and three wheelers are available during the
day-time, between these two locations.
OBJECTIVES:
(i) To train young, intelligent and educated
men and women into basics of yoga science
in all its pure and pristine form, as well as,
(ii) To acquaint students with essential
features of all cultures so as to enable them
to perceive broader horizons of yoga,
encompassing all world cultures.
According to Swami Kuvalayananda, if
understood through the modern scientific
approach, yoga would help greatly in the
spiritual and material renaissance of the
human society. This has been the very
philosophy behind all academic and social
activities of GORDHANDAS SEKSARIA
COLLEGE OF YOGA & CULTURAL SYNTHESIS,
since its inception.

Eligibility:

Science Graduate with 60% or D.Y.Ed with
55% aggregate or Graduate from any
stream with certificate in yoga.
• Age:
There is no age bar for the course.
• Medical Test:
Candidates should be medically fit and
sound. Selection is subject to clearing the
medical examina-tion conducted by the
Institute.
Intake Capacity:
20 Indian Students + Foreign Nationals.
Selection Methods:
Selection is based on Merit-cum- timely
registration.
Medium:
English (Students have an option to write
exams in Hindi).

P.G.DIPLOMA IN YOGA EDUCATION:
(P.G.D.Y.Ed.)
Objective:
The aim of this course is to train and prepare
deserving candidates in the esoteric aspects
of Yoga, which deals with the problems of
integration of personality as a first step to
prepare oneself for the higher esoteric
practices. The students are also grounded
fairly well in the various academic aspects of
different subjects so that they may find
themselves well equipped and efficient if they
were to go out into the world after the course
to undertake teaching work in yoga. Those
found to have a special aptitude, towards
spiritual phenomenon, will also be initiated
into the higher esoteric practices and on their
showing progress, they may be accepted into
the Ashram Brotherhood, in case they are
ready to join the same.
Duration : An academic batch of this course
Starts around 16th July, until April 20th of the
year.
Eligibility:
• Qualification:
Graduation in any academic stream from
a recognized university.
• Age:
There is no age bar for the course.
• Medical Test:
Candidates should be medically fit and
sound. Selection is subject to clearing the
medical examination conducted by the
Institute.

P.G. DIPLOMA IN YOGA THERAPY :
(P.G.D.Y.T.)
Objective:
The course aims to train science/medical
graduates and qualified yoga teachers into
clinical/Therapeutic aspects of yoga so that
they can become a part of Yoga Therapy team
at hospitals/social and educational institutes.
Its objectives include to promote the
awareness for “Positive Health” and “Yogic
Personality Development” in students and
also to develop and impart skills in application
CERTIFICATE COURSE IN YOGA :
(C.C.Y.)
Objective:
It is ideal for those who have always wanted
to have an in-depth understanding of Yoga but
have been unable to take a long time off. It
covers textual psycho-physiological and
practical aspects of Yoga, as well as, teaching
methods in yoga.
Duration:
Six weeks course, conducted twice in a year.
i. Starts from May 2, every year (Last date
of receiving application is 31 March. Rs.
500/- will be the late fee until April 15 and
Rs. 1000/- after April 15.
ii. Starts from January 15, (Last date of
receiving application is 15th December.
Rs.500/- will be the late fee until 30th
December and Rs.1000/- after 30th
December.
Eligibility:

HSC Pass/ Pre University level course.
• Age:

• Medical Test:
Candidate should be medically fit and
sound. Selection is subject to clearing the

Adv. YOGA TEACHERS’ TRAINING
COURSE (Adv.T.T.C.):
Objective:
A discernible Yoga Teacher always wishes to
further his/her individual yoga practice, as
well as, his/her communication skills in a
yogic teaching learning situation. The entire
horizon of advanced and subtler yoga
practices is aimed at in Adv. T.T.C. that
encompasses a multi disciplinary exposition
of yogic theory and practice. Theoretical
outlook of scientific Yoga, nuances of
meditative practices, experiential Sessions in
practical yoga, as well as, cleansing processes
are prominent salient features.
Duration:
One month course starts from 15th March,
every year.
Eligibility:
• Qualification:
Certificate, Diploma or graduation in Yoga
with 2 years teaching experience in Yoga.
• Age:
There is no age bar for the course
• Medical Test:
Candidates should be medically fit and
sound. Selection is subject to clearing the
medical examination conducted by the
Institute.

21-DAYS CERTIFICATE COURSE IN BASIC
UNDERSTANDING OF TRADITIONAL YOGIC
TEXTS
Objective:
• To acquaint students with historic and
traditional roots of Yoga, as well as, its
philosophy and applications, as drawn
from Traditional yogic texts.
• To give a proper exposure of Darshanika
(Yogic philosophy related) aspect of Yoga
to the students through upanishadas and
authoritative yogic texts.
• To equip students with traditional
understanding of yoga practices from
different schools of yoga in general and
from Hatha yogic and Patanjala yoga
schools in particular.
Duration:
21-Days course, conducted once a year.
(December 1st to December 21th).

Graduate/Diploma / Certificate holders in
Yoga /Naturo-pathy/Physical Education.

BACHELOR OF ARTS IN YOGA
PHILOSOPHY
Objectives of the Course
• To impart the basic knowledge about Yoga,
its basis and applications.
• To promote the awareness of positive
health, personality development and
psycho-spiritual evolution.
• To train students to take up Yoga Science
as a profession.
• To prepare the students in Yoga Science
to pursue for higher aspects of Yoga at the
post graduate level and Yoga Research.
Duration of the Course
The course will be of three academic years
(six semesters) duration.
Eligibility
Successful completion of 10+2 in all streams
or equivalent with minimum 45% marks.
• Age:
No age limit
• Medical Fitness:
Certified by the competent authority.

The Credit based syllabus is designed to fulfill
aforesaid objectives containing theory
subjects, practical, field training in Yoga, Yoga
therapy and assignments.

“90 HRS. MASTER CLASS FOR YOGA
TEACHERS”
Objectives :
The course emphasizes integration of the
classical yogic texts with the practice of
teaching 8 limbs of Yoga. Participants will gain
deeper understanding of impact of yogic
practices on anatomy and physiology of
human body. Students will participate in
discussions, lectures and hands on training
to gain new insights on what it means to be a
yoga teacher and to enhance their teaching
abilities. We will examine how we teach while
exploring the art and science of teaching
methodology from a multidisciplinary yogic
perspective.
Duration of the course:
2 Weeks
Twice in a year
(May 8 – May 21 & Nov 20 – Dec 3)
