WHY REDESIGN GIMS?
![Page 6: GIMS REDESIGN PROJECT](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062409/56814bce550346895db8a514/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Improved Location Data
![Page 7: GIMS REDESIGN PROJECT](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062409/56814bce550346895db8a514/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
Improved Data to Roadway Association
• Detail of features located along the roadway will increase.
• Move from capturing number of features (stop signs, curves, intersections per segment, etc.) to actual location of features.

HOW WILL GIMS BE DIFFERENT?
![Page 12: GIMS REDESIGN PROJECT](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062409/56814bce550346895db8a514/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
•Data are maintained in individual tables, limiting data redundancy
•Attributes describe varying extents along a section of roadway
•Graphic representations of attribute data are generated “on the fly”
