What is Digital Identity?University of Reading (UK) defines ‘Digital Identity’ as:
“the persona an individual presents across all the digital communities in which he or she is represented.”
DI has two parts: What you say/do online (you can control)What others say about you (no control)

What is Social Media?Media is an instrument for communication to you:
newspaper or a radio (one way)
Social media is also a social instrument of communication
Social media is a website that doesn't just give you information, but interacts with you while giving you that information. (ie. Provides a way for you to make comments, vote, recommend, rate, etc.)

They have changed the way we think about privacy

Changes in Law have not kept up with changes in technology
They are here to stay (in some form)! Within the next few years they will be an expectation
