associated him for the pastthirty years To me he was more of acompanion I more than anyone elsewas better enabled to know his trueacter When I say that a more noblehonest and uprightever lived than George Mitchell I know Ispeak the truth He was a man whom itwas good to friend His wholeconduct was such as to inspire those whoassociated with him to be better in theirdaily walks of life How true in yourobituary of him was the phrase he neverknqwingly did a wrong to anyone Almost childlike in his nature he could seeno wrong in others He always believedin looking on the bright side of life andalthough during the last few years of hislife he a constant sufferer hecomplained He was my guest NewYork only a few short weeks ago soilalthough he was then suffering great painat all times he was cheerful and everready to joke
