• One third of 8th graders in the Siuslaw School District do not feel there is an adult in their school who really cares about them
• 4 out of 10 8th graders in the Siuslaw School District have not talked with their parents about the dangers of tobacco, alcohol or drug abuse
• One half of 8th graders in the Siuslaw School District have not talked with their parents about the risks of gambling

Florence Area Prevention Coalition• Who/What: a group of people
in Western Lane County who want to improve the quality of life for young people. Meeting monthly to talk about prevention efforts and to create a plan.
• Where/When: The 4th Tuesday of each month at the Florence Fire Station from 3:30-5pm (next meeting: March 22)
