Georgia Educational Consultants, Inc.Dr. Genola Johnson
A well planned lesson will eliminate a majority of
behavior problems. NOT all, but most.
Common Core Standards allow teachers to be creative, for
example:
Science Standard: CCSS.ELA-Literacy. RST. 6-8.4. Determine the meaning of symbols, key terms, and other domain-specific words and phrases as they are used in a specific scientific or technical context relevant to grades 6 – 8 texts and topics.
The teacher has the option to choose their text to teach science
content
The teacher has the option for how the content is delivered
The Standards require the teacher to:
• Make meanings of scientific symbols• Understand key terms of the content• Other words related to the content
domain• Scientific phrases used in the content
When lecturing introduce the content a little at a time
Give information in 3 – 5 minute lectures, readings, etc.
Assign students an interactive activity with what you’ve just taught
Create activities that will require students to need more information
Focus on students Multiple Intelligences
Students are exposed to electronic games
They arise in the morning to play a game before school
These mediums have quick response times
Teaching may have to change to quick response times of burst of learning
Everything we teach can be found on the internet
They don’t really need teachers
Teachers can make it worth their while to
come to class
