    DifferenceBetweenPersonnelManagementAndHumanResourceManagementHuman resource management is thenewversionofpersonnelmanagement.There is no any watertight differencebetweenhumanresourcemanagementandpersonnelmanagement.However,there are some differences in thefollowingmatters.

    1. Personnel management is atraditional approach of managingpeople in the organization. Humanresource management is a modernapproachofmanagingpeopleandtheirstrengthsintheorganization.

    2.Personnelmanagementfocusesonpersonneladministration,employeewelfareandlaborrelation.Humanresourcemanagementfocusesonacquisition,development,motivationandmaintenanceofhumanresourcesintheorganization.

    3.Personnelmanagementassumespeopleasainputforachievingdesiredoutput.Humanresourcemanagementassumespeopleasanimportantandvaluableresourceforachievingdesiredoutput.

    4. Under personnel management, personnel function is undertaken for employee'ssatisfaction.Underhumanresourcemanagement,administrative function isundertaken forgoalachievement.

    5.Underpersonnelmanagement,jobdesignisdoneonthebasisofdivisionoflabor.Underhumanresourcemanagement,jobdesignfunctionisdoneonthebasisofgroupwork/teamwork.

    6. Under personnel management, employees are provided with less training anddevelopment opportunities.Under human resourcemanagement, employees are providedwithmoretraininganddevelopmentopportunities.

    7.Inpersonnelmanagement,decisionsaremadebythetopmanagementasperthe rulesand regulation of the organization. In human resource management, decisions are madecollectivelyafterconsideringemployee'sparticipation,authority,decentralization,competitiveenvironmentetc.

    8. Personnel management focuses on increased production and satisfied employees.Humanresourcemanagementfocusesoneffectiveness,culture,productivityandemployee'sparticipation.

    9. Personnel management is concerned with personnel manager. Human resourcemanagementisconcernedwithalllevelofmanagersfromtoptobottom.

    10. Personnel management is a routine function. Human resource management is astrategicfunction.
