host.Avoidall dramaticmovement, tappingon theunit,

andvibration.

• Avoidplacingtheharddrivesclosetomagneticdevices,

highvoltagedevices,ornearaheatsource.Thisincludes

anyplacewheretheproductwillbesubjecttodirectsun-

light.DoNOTallowwatertomakecontactwiththedrive

ortheUltraDockUDv5.5.

• Remove the drives before transporting the UltraDock

UDv5.5topreventdamagetothedriveinterfaces.

optional.Thepurposeofthebottomplateistoprovideprotectiontothedriveelectronicsofyourharddrive.

b. Ifyou’reattachinganIDE/PATAdrive,configurethejumpersontherearofthedrivetoMaster.Consultthe

instructionsonyourharddrive’slabel.

c. ConnecttheUltraDockUDv5.5tothedrive(oradapter),usingtheIDEribbonandMolexpowercablesforIDE/

PATAdrivesortheunifiedSATAdata/powercableforSATAdrives.

d. Ifyou’reusinganadapter,connectthedrivetotheadapter.

e. ConnectaeSATA,FireWire,orUSBcablefromyourcomputertothecorrespondingportontheUltraDock

UDv5.5.

f. ProvidepowertotheUltraDockUDv5.5.ConnecttheincludedACadapteroraSATApowercablefromthe

insideofyourcomputercase.

g. Turnonthepowerswitch.

YouarenowreadytousetheUltraDockUDv5.5toaccesstheattacheddrive.Ifthedriveisalreadyformatted,it

canbeusedrightaway.Ifthedriveisbrandnew,oritsformatisnotcompatiblewithyourcomputer,thedrivewill

needtobeformattedbeforebeingused.

Formattingadrivewillerasealldataonthedrive,sobesuretobackupyourdatabeforebeginningthisoperation.
