CORPORATE HISTORY
The fi rst extrusion company which was acquired by the CPM Holdings was Century Extrusion in 2006. Century Extrusion, with its headquarters in Traverse City(MI) in the US, has decades of expe-rience in the development of highly engineered twin screw extrusion systems as well as high per-formance process section components.
Through the development of an impressive list of global customers spanning across all aspects of compounding, Century Extrusion has acquired valuable experience in process application and system design.
In 2007 Ruiya Extrusion, established in 1993, was acquired by the CPM Holdings. Ruiya Extrusion is one of China’s leading providers of twin screw extruders covering all kinds of applications, com-pounding systems and supporting technologies.

3. MACHINE DESIGN ENGINEERING
CPM Extrusion group will design your CXE to meet your specifi c requirements. We can off er custom feeding and degassing equipment, unlimited screw confi gurations, user specifi ed key compo-nents like instrumentation, motors and pumps.
The CXE series also allows for a high level of user defi nition in the specifi cation of process control platforms and automation. The CXE series design incorporates the industry standard 1.55 Do/Di ratio. In addition to the highest power and safety factors available, the Century Extrusion gearbox off ers a main bearing life of up to 50,000 hours.
3. CXE FEATURE SERIES: HO AND sHO
Our CXE machines are available in two feature series which build on each other.
Firstly, our HO - High Output – Is the CPM Extru-sion Group solution for 24/7 compounders who require the highest torque and power. The HO off ers a 18Nm/cm³ torque density gearbox and off ers screw speeds of up to 1200-1500 rpm. The HO is equipped with our proprietary cold-formed premium screw shafts and a broad choice of wear protection for screws and barrels.
Secondly, our sHO – smart High Output – series off ers (in addition to the HO series features) a broad variety of smart features to support multi screw extruder operations at the highest level of performance. The HO includes our independent shaft torque measurement technology which mo-nitors the torque of each shaft, greatly reducing the risk of a machine crash due to imbalanced tor-que transmission.
The HO also features an oil monitoring system which measures oil quality via inline analysis of temperature, moisture, light transmission and various other parameters refl ecting the oil con-dition. Additionally, we apply vibration and tem-perature sensors for condition monitoring of the gearbox and motor bearings.
Energy monitoring is an important feature of state of the art compounding equipment as it instantly shows the energetic compounding effi ciency by measuring electrical power of motor, heaters and auxiliary equipment as well as the cooling water consumption.

CPM Extrusion Group designed the APEX series to focus explicitly on an excellent economical price. We focus on costs and on worldwide qual-ity without sacrifi cing throughput, reliability and our global service.
CPM Extrusion Group takes advantage of its ex-pansion (Locations in US, Germany and China) to supply the APEX series. The APEX series utilizes key process section components manufactured in either Europe or US and it is assembled by CPM Ruiya Extrusion in China.

The TSE series of CPM Ruiya Extrusion is one of the most commonly used extrusion machines in China. It is the industry standard in Asia.
1. MAIN PRINCIPLE AND USE
The TSE series has been in production for more than 25 years and is the benchmark for quality among entry level machines. Within this series you can also obtain the TSE Plus. Both series have highly economical prices and are driven by advanced features.
The TSE series is developed to maintain the same level of throughput, quality, and reliability at a reduced cost. The TSE uses a modern building block construction consisting of base frame, mo-tor, safety clutch, gearbox, segmented barrels, and segmented screws. The TSE typically uses electric heaters and modular cooling with water.
At the most economical solution, all components are sourced from top Chinese and global suppliers.
TSE SERIES PLUS
The TSE Plus allows processors to obtain advan-ced performance within the TSE series. The TSE Plus off ers higher output, higher torque, and hig-her reliability than the TSE base models. The TSE Plus includes all of the features of the TSE and the following additions:

1. ABOUT MULTI-SCREW EXTRUDERS
It is common knowledge that the advantages of multi screw extruders lie in the intermeshing section – the apex. The apex is the base for the advantageous features of multi-screw extruders:
- Dispersive mixing via elongational fl ow- Distributive mixing via stream divisions - Surface renewal for degassing- Self-cleaning for fast change-over times
Hence it is quite obvious that increasing the amount of screws in the extruder is an excellent way to boost the capability of the extruder. The RingExtruder RE® with 12 screw shafts is a co-ro-tating multi-screw extruder which was developed for challenging mixing and degassing applications.
BASIC DESIGN & TECHNOLOGICAL FEATURES
12 Screw shafts arranged symmetrically in a ring rotate in the same direction each on its own axis. The outer barrel and the stationary core enclose the screws with a narrow gap. Transportation of material takes place in a double helix: around the stationary core and around each screw.
The intermeshing section between the screws, often also referred as the „apex“, is used extensi-vely in the RingExtruder RE® as the central point of the process technology. In the intermeshing section, material is passed to the adjacent screw with a change in fl ow direction and resulting in a 3D elongation fl ow without partial overloading and leads to an excellent dispersion, wetting and homogenization.
In addition, the RE provides a high surface-to-vo-lume ratio which is unmatched by any other mul-ti-screw extruder. The combination of the more frequent passage of the intermeshing section and the high surface-to-volume ratio is enhan-cing the degassing capability of the machine.
THE RINGEXTRUDER RE®
Finally the arrangement of the screw shafts in a ring largely compensates the spreading forces known in multi-screw extruders and therefore reduces barrel and screw wear.

3. MACHINE DESIGN AND ENGINEERING
The RingExtruder RE® consists of the electrical drive, safety coupling, reduction and distribution gearbox as well as the processing unit. Barrels, screws and the core are divided into individual segments with modular confi guration.
Solids or liquids can be added downstream on combi barrels using sidefeeders. Special barrels with large openings are available for degassing; alternatively degassing units can be used. In gene-ral the barrels are heated electrically and cooled with water. However in case of special require-ments liquid temperature control systems can be applied as well.
On request we supply turnkey systems to our customer rather than just the RingExtruder RE®. The control concept allows to control and monitor the entire extrusion process.

OUR SIDEFEEDER
BASIC DESIGN
In many extrusion processes, fi llers and reinfor-cing agents, as well as pigments and fl ame re-tardants are not added in the main intake but in the subsequent processing sections. A fl exible, wear-resistant reliable sidefeeder is therefore required.
Our sidefeeder is designed to adapt easily to all OEM brands and types. The sidefeeder can be individually adapted to the requirements of throughput rate, available space and the connec-tion dimensions to the sidefeed barrel of the main extruder.
The system is available with a screw diameter from 25mm to 160mm.
OUR AUXILIARY DEVICES
TECHNICAL ASPECTS
Typically, the sidefeeder is fed by a gravimetric feeding system. The tightly intermeshing screws of the sidefeeder receive the product and trans-port the material into the main extruder.
OUR DEGASSING UNIT
BASIC DESIGN
Degassing units are manufactured to optimize the degassing or venting of an extrusion process. In special cases these devices can also be used for the removal of liquids.
The screws of the degassing unit can be designed as compact screws in one piece or they can be made out of segments for more fl exibility in wear protection and in process adaption. Our degas-sing units achieve excellent degassing results, even under the most diffi cult processing condi-tions.
They can be individually adapted to the require-ments of degassing volume, available space and connection dimensions of the existing degassing barrel at the main extruder. Our system is availa-ble with diameters from 25 mm to 160mm.
The CPM Extrusion Group degassing unit can be either mounted on top of an open barrel or on the side of a combi-barrel.
TECHNICAL ASPECTS
The axially open screw profi le of the degassing unit allows eff ective and fail-safe separation of product and volatile components.
Any discharged products are conveyed back into the processing chamber and gaseous compo-nents are carried off by the vacuum applied to the degassing unit.
CPM Extrusion Group has developed a range of auxiliary devices for multi screw extruders.

The CPM Extrusion Group currently supports and serves multi screw lines around the world. We have the global and regional capacity to help our cus-tomers specify, operate and maintain their com-pounding systems both near-term and long-term.
Through decades of industry experience, we have developed a comprehensive offering of services to help compounders stay up and running and to achieve their goals.
TWIN SCREW AND RING EXTRUSION TECHNOLOGY TRAINING PROGRAMS
By request we can offer training programs in both twin screw and ring extrusion fields. Training topics range from extruder troubleshooting to in-depth tailored process support.
We deliver this service in many ways:

ENGINEERING SERVICES
When developing machinery specifications, we carry out an analysis which examines process parameters like rotational speed, temperature profile, torque, pressure and specific energy in-put in connection with screw and barrel design.
Upscaling and downscaling the processes and geometry of different sizes and types of extruders help our customers achieve the required results with their processing technology.
SUPPORTING SERVICES
We offer a 24 hour emergency hotline through every CPM Extrusion Group location. For urgent inquiries you can call our hotline or contact us by email. Additionally, our extensive spare parts in-

ventories and expediting capabilities in the U.S., Germany and China allow us to serve customer needs in the timeliest fashion possible. You will benefit from our extended stock program for elements, liners and barrels.
INSTALLATION
Our service technicians are available for the su-pervision of extrusion equipment installations in every corner of the world. Our installation team will guide and assist the customer throughout each step of the start-up process.
The specific requirements of design, layout, assem-bly, electrical, and other utilities are addressed prior to the on-site start of the installation. We offer operation and service manuals for all the equipment we supply.
TRAINING
In addition to our frequent online webinars, semi-nars, and workshops we also offer on-site training specific to your installed equipment.
After completion of an installation, our skilled tech- nicians and process specialists begin the commis-sioning process. Each individual component of the installation is configured and tested for optimal performance. Once the machine performance has met your desired characteristics, the start-up of the extrusion line is accomplished.
MAINTENANCE
As with any industry utilizing industrial equipment, it is important to practice regular maintenance. We support our customers through a range of services such as barrel bore measurement and re-porting, screw shaft disassembly and inspection, and remote and on-site troubleshooting.
Strong maintenance knowledge may be gained through the viewing and attending of our training seminars and online webinars.
