Our Expanded ResourcesOne of the most important factors for a business or industry considering locating, expanding or remaining in North Carolina is the ability of the local community and state resources to provide a well-trained workforce. We respond to that economic development need by providing education and training opportunities for eligible businesses and industries.
Supported by state funding, the Corporate Learning team steps up to this need by taking the lead role in new hire training with the Customized Training Program. Projects approved by the N.C. Community College System pay for the design and delivery of job-specific company training and more to build our state’s workforce.

Five Tips for Effective Learning
1. Set clear expectations. Focus on the behavioral outcomes that you are seeking.
2. Ensure that employees understand the reasons for participating in the training. Help them understand how they will benefit.
3. Whenpossible, useteamlearningwhereteamslearntogether. Studies show that team learning yields greater performance after the training.
4. Ensure instructors use adult learning principles. Lectures alone are less effective.
5. Measure the results. Training without follow-up or reinforcement yields less success.
