History of Hagia Sophia
Although there are no artifacts confirming Hagia Sophia, it was said that it was built on the site of an ancient pagan temple. Haiga Sophia went though two phases of construction before its present state. Unfortunately nothing remains of the original Hagia Sophia built in the 6th century.

Culture and Background of Hagia Sophia
Hagia Sophia is a massive dome, which is the prominent architectural feature.
It is the mother church of all Eastern Christians. It was first known as the Great Church because it
was the biggest known church at the time. Then it became known as Holy Wisdom because it was a name given to Christ by theologians in the fourth century.
Hagia Sophia was first known as a Christian Church, later an Eastern Orthodox Church, and then it was transformed into a mosque in 1453 by the Turks. In 1935 Hagia Sophia was converted into a museum. It is normal considered one of the great and most beautiful buildings in history.
