A range of pathological condition arising from coincident lack of
proteins & calories. It is commonly associated with infection.
It occurs in infant or young child if :- - He has been given an
inadequate diet for several weeks. - He has suffered several attack
of diarrhea. - He has been ill with serious infection. Prevalence :
Very high affects > 100 Million children. Has high morbidity
& mortality rate. 2 P. E. M . Type and classification : - Mild
- Moderate - Severe
