Green Synthesis of 5-Substituted-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-thiols as New Potent Nitrifi-cation Inhibitors. — A new one-pot method is used for the synthesis of acid hydra-zides which are further processed in a similar manner to that used in the conventional protocol. This innovation improves the overall synthetic protocol for the thiadiazolethi-ols (III) in terms of yield, time, energy, atom economy and other green chemistry char-acteristics. All compounds with exception of (IIIa) and (IIIc) reveal promising nitrifi-cation inhibition and may be prototypes for the discovery of potent analogues through compound library design and screening. — (SAHA, A.; KUMAR*, R.; KUMAR, R.; DEVAKUMAR, C.; J.
