CongratulationstotheSCvolleyballteamonwinningthe3AStateChampionshiponSaturday.TheydefeatedCascadeChristianin4sets,25-23,23-25,25-16,25-17.SophomoreEmilyBournewasSC’sPlayeroftheGame,andbothBourneandjuniorKassieStatonearned1stTeamAll-Statehonorsinadditionto1stteamAllLeaguehonors.JuniorJosieRisingerearned2ndteamAllLeague,whilejuniorsLaurynPennerandAliyahAtkinsbothreceivedHonorableMention.EmilyBournewasselectedastheMountainValleyConferencePlayeroftheYear.TheteamwascoachedbyKelliFitzpatrickandassistantMcKennaSmith.FitzpatrickearnedtheMountainValleyCoachoftheYearawardforvolleyball.(Seemorepicturesonpage4.)

Boyssoccerwontheir1stroundgameagainstUmpquaValleyChristian,butlostSaturdayinthequarterfinalsto#1rankedOregonEpiscopal.Girlssoccer’sseasonendedinRound1withalosstoRiverdale.OnFriday,thefootballteamlosttoClatskanieHighSchoolinRound1.OnSaturday,thegirlscrosscountryteamraninthe3A/2A/1AstatechampionshipmeetatLaneCommunityCollege.SC’stopfinisherswereAnnLivingston(46)andKeilanaOxenrider(51).

ThefollowingSCfallsportsteamsearnedAcademicAll-Statehonorswithanaverage3.00GPAorabove.Thefollowingteamswereinthetop10academicrankinginthestatefortheirsportinthe3Aclassification:

Theydidn’tmaketoptenranking,butthegirlssoccerteamhada3.52averageGPAandthegirlscrosscountryteamhada3.32averageGPA.Boyscrosscountrydidnothaveenoughmemberstoqualifyasateam.

All-Leagueawardsinformationwasnotavailableatthetimeofthispublication,butwillbeincludedinnextweek’snewsletterforthesefallsports.

Are You…. In 9th-12th Grade? Looking for ways to build your skills and your

resume? Available after-school and/or weekends?

What does a Teen Teacher Do? Facilitate lessons on healthy eating and active play. Teach elementary aged youth about nutritional

health, fitness, and environmental education. Make and eat healthy snacks with youth. Help youth think about what they eat (more

fruits & vegetables, whole grains, & water). Lead active games with youth!
