ProposalJAZZ AND ALEX
One of the first features that my partner and I discussed was the aspect of our CD. As the artist we picked is still underground, we
decided to put up a collage with other artists that share the same style as ours.
As a result, we established that the genre of our CD is going to be dance, as the music will represent the youth culture. In order
to portray the energy of the youth, we also decided that our album should be extremely colourful and less dramatic. For
instance, we decided to construct a similar look to the cover CD of Katy B, Elle Varner and Tinashe.
We also decided for our picture to portray the artist posing in a medium close shot. Additionally, our photo-shoot location will be
the studio, mainly because we think that it will look much more professional, however we could incorporate a more colourful
and interesting backdrop. As final product will look extremely colourful due to photoshop manipulation, we are also thinking for
our photographs to be in black and white, mainly because we believe that a monochromatic image would allow the colours in
photoshop to blend with the picture much more nicely.
Studio vs. Location
As we decided that the cover of the CD should be colourful, we tried to
imitate the style of Elle Varner and Katy B. We therefore decided to do a
test run with a couple photographs that we have to see if our plans are
plausible. The result was positive and we are thinking that this style fits our
artist perfect. Although the art of her album is based on cartoons, we also
notice her preference towards colourful imagery, and thus we believe it
would represent both her style and her music perfectly.
These are the font ideas we
have for our album art. We
are going for a simple font
however we want it to be
creative at the same time. We
are thinking of having the font
in capital letters to create a
bold effect to show the status
of the artist.
