CLASS-X
TOPIC: ELECTRICITY
DAY-1
NCERT MATERIAL

TEACHING MATERIAL
* Charge is the fundamental property of matter.
* It is a fundamental physical quantity due to which there exist Electrostatic force between a pair of
electrons or protons or an electron & proton.
Types :-
1. Positive Charge
2. Negative Charge
* Electron has negative charge and proton has Positive charge .
PROPERTIES OF CHARGES :- * Like charges repel each other an dinlike charges attact each other.
* Charges are conserved , i.e it can neither be created nor destroyed.
* Charges are additive in nature ,i.e total charge is the algebraic sum of the individual charges.
* Charge is quantised , i.e the total amount of charge on a body is the integral multiple of the
elementary charge "e" ( basic or minimum existible charge ).
Hence Q = ne. n = integers and
e = 1.6 x 10-19 C * It's SI unit is Coulomb
* It is an scalar quantity.
