Overview This document describes the system requirements and product
overview for the Billing and Traffic System (BTS) software, version

compatible with BTS software, version 6.2.1.2.13. The following file
is required to install the BTS software on the server:
BTS_6.2.1.2.13.tar.gz
The detailed content can be found in Section 1.5, Full List of New

1.2 Software Release Overview
Billing and Traffic System Requirements
BTS is designed to run on a Sun Solaris platform. The minimum
recommended hardware configuration for BTS is a Netra 120/SunFire V120
server with 500 MB of memory and a 10/100 Ethernet card and Ethernet
connection.
Since BTS is capturing critical billing data, to avoid the loss of data due to a
disk crash, Alcatel-Lucent recommends having multiple disk drives and
configuring disk mirroring software, such as Sun Solstice or Veritas.
The BTS software requires Solaris 8, 9, or 10 with the corresponding Solaris
patches. Patches can be downloaded in .tar format from the Sun website,
http://sunsolve.sun.com/.
Caution: When using the BTS application, it is possible to fill the server's
data directory to a point where the 'ls' and other file management commands
or tools will not display the contents of the data directory. To prevent this
from happening, Alcatel-Lucent suggests that the previous month's data files
be removed from the data directory during the first week of a new month.
Switch Software Requirements
This version of Billing and Traffic system software has been validated
against switches running Version 6.2.1.2.SP.6 and 6.2.0.3.SP.8 of the switch
software.
Contact Alcatel-Lucent Technical Services at 1-866-LUCENT8
(1-866-582-3688) regarding the specifics of managing Plexus switches
running other versions of switch software.
1.3 Installation & Startup Procedures
For installation and startup procedures, see DLP-541 in the Task Oriented Procedures (TOP) chapter of the Lucent Gateway Platform Billing and Traffic Collection Guide (255-400-403).

1.4 Full List of New Features/Functions
This release delivers the following features to customers:
FID Feature Release
2070 AMA Tracer Record An optional AMA Tracer output
that allows you to monitor the billing data feed. Unlike
traditional billing record generation, the audit tracer report
is triggered by a new timer created on hourly/daily basis on
the BTS server instead of raw call detailed record stream
sent from switch. The Tracer record populates the key
counters of structure code 09042. The Primary Tracer
record, includes the following three items:
Count of Records from Switch Total number of records received from the switch plus any additional
AMA records which are generated from a single
call detail record. The additional records will
account for call forwarding scenarios where a single
call detail record from the switch gets converted
into two or more AMA records.
Count of Records Lost Total number of records that aren't turned into AMA records due to some
system, processing (i.e. formatting) or disk error on
the BTS system. In addition, the switch will
maintain and pass a count of lost records to the BTS
every hour and every 24 hours. This count will be
identified in this lost record field. So, this field
'Count of Records Lost' includes the lost records in
both switch and BTS.
Count of Records Output Total number of records that get formatted into AMA records and
are successfully written into AMADNS output files.
Note that both ASCII and AMA format are
supported in BTS. If ASCII output is enabled, the
output record counts the ASCII record. If AMA
output is enabled, the output record counts the
AMA record. If both ASCII and AMA are enabled,
the AMA record shall be counted for the output
record.
6.2.1.2.1
283 Geographic Redundancy Correlation In this release,
the BTS will try to correlate the Start and Sparse GR
Release Records, which are generated upon call release, for
