We have had too many funerals
this last month. It is not just the quantity of funerals that make it difficult but the number of years I have been at Trinity. In July, I will begin my 12the year as your pastor. These are people that I have known for many years and I have grown to love. It is becoming more difficult to keep my emotions under control.
But here is the good news. If you have to have a funeral or memorial service, there is no better place than Trinity United Methodist
Church. It starts with the music. Not only are Gayle and Jane McMillen the best, they are able to play whatever the family requests. If they cannot play we have outstanding options to take their place. We also have incredible soloists who are always willing to share their talents. Sometimes we even have the entire Chancel or Folk Choir.
The second reason is Keith Holmes and his technology team. They often have to put something together rather quickly and they always come through. Keith often goes the extra mile, working on his vacation to put together a slide show. I never worry about the quality of our technology in worship.
Finally, we have outstanding hospitality. The United Methodist Women provide whatever the family needs. That is not always easy because it is hard to estimate how many people will attend a funeral or a reception. Our women are a well-oiled machine and they always make sure the family is taken care of. Hospitality also includes the meals and cards provided to the family by other members of the church. Usually people are overwhelmed by the love that comes their way. Finally, we have many people who volunteer to usher or set up the sanctuary with tissues for the family and clean up afterward. It is amazing to watch.
I never look forward to leading a funeral, but I sure am grateful for Trinity every time we celebrate a person’s life. Thank you for everything you do !
Peace, Barry

Does Barry have the “Magic Stadium” to help the Royals start winning? Only time will tell! Special Magic Stadium on loan and can be viewed in the front office. Stop by and give the Magic Stadium your blessing!
Lori’s Lines I have heard of Aurora, Colorado, but never had heard of Aurora, Nebraska! This past week I found Aurora, Nebraska and spent a week there for Licensing School. It was a great week!
Sixteen people from all over Kansas and Nebraska gathered to learn information about being a pastor. Subjects covered were preaching, pastoral care, missions/evangelism, and worship. I did learn some new valuable information. Also, all of the students were trained to be an Emergency Response Team member. I am now a certified ERT! For the missions class, the teacher taught us how to tarp a roof and sort thru debris from a disastrous storm.
(Lori preaching her sermon.) One of the most important things I walked away with was new friendships and connections with others in the field of ministry. In July, we get to meet again for another week of learning, but this time it will be held in Great Bend, Kansas. I do know where that is! ;) I am feeling blessed to receive continuing education, to be your associate pastor, and to be in ministry together!
Blessings, Pastor Lori Persigehl

Check Out Summer Sunday School! 9:45 am each week. Something for everyone! During the summer we tend to see about 130 people each Sunday
for Sunday School. We would love for you to be part of this ministry. Five adult groups, two
youth and four children’s groups are available from 9:45 – 10:45am. A nursery is available
for children younger than 2 years old. Everyone is welcome!
Fall Ministries for Children & Youth We are so pleased to have 14 folks say yes to our fall Sunday School ministry. We are looking
for five more people to work with our preschool, children and youth during the 9:45 – 10:45am hour on Sundays.
Everyone will work with a partner or team. Everyone will have lesson material provided. Everyone will have
substitutes available when they need to be gone. If you love God and care about kids this may be a ministry for you.
We have openings in all age levels at this time. Some wonderful teachers are looking for someone to be in ministry
with them and share this experience of spreading the faith to the next generation. Details are available by talking
to the Education Team: Barb Bell, Carol Moddelmog, Jennifer Michel, Nancy Drake, Mandi Feil or Tammy Dees.
Rolling Rampage Wrap Up It truly is hard to believe that Vacation Bible School week has come and gone. As the Planning Team walked the
building to clear out any items left from the week we had a lot of smiles thinking about the kids and staff that were
here only a few days ago. Just a bit of business: 1. If your VBS student did not get home with a music CD from the
week or all of the Daily Treasure Paddles we have a few of each available. Stop by Tammy Dees’ office.
2. Staff members that did not have the opportunity to turn in their evaluation forms may do so in the Church office.
3. If you are missing a personal item from the week, we placed a few things in the lost and found tub at the
Northeast entrance. 4. Are you missing a blanket? At the time of this writing, a striped blanket was found in one of
the cubby holes in the Family Life Center and is still there.
Staff & Decorating Team Thank you Gift: Church office Were you a member of the Vacation Bible School Staff or a part of the decorating in any way? We have a thank you
gift for each volunteer. If you did not receive one, please, stop by the church office. We would love to thank you
personally and give you a small token for your ministry of time, energy and service. Please, don ’t be shy – we know
several folks have not received their gift and we want to catch up with you. VBS would never, never happen without
the many people that work behind the scenes! You are a blessing!
July Sunday School: Need a substitute? Tammy Dees will out of the office July 10 – 23. If you find you need a substitute during that time, please, contact
Sunday School Superintendents Kathy Olson or April Counts for assistance.

Acolyte Training for any 3rd – 6th grader coming in August The 8:30 and 11:00am worship services have a tradition of lighting candles at the beginning and extinguishing
them at the end of worship. Students are welcome to provide this part of the worship service as an acolyte. We will
have a training in August for students that would like to know more about how this ministry takes place. Watch for
information in future newsletter and bulletin articles.
“Why Christian” 2018 Video Series Coming in August When was the last time you heard a story that reminded you of why you are a Christian? Last March, Nikki Dank-
enbring and Susan Burchill attended the Why Christian Conference at Duke University. Hosts Nadia Bolz-Weber
and Rachel Held Evans introduced eight amazing practitioners - black, white, native, Asian, queer, trans,
straight - doubters, dreamers, artists, teachers, preachers, and activists - whose stories remind us why, in spite of all
its dysfunction, we remain a part of the sprawling and diverse family of God. Join Nikki and Susan as they share
the videos from this year’s conference. Come with an open mind, prepared to have your view of God’s love
challenged and expanded. Tuesday nights, 7:00pm-9:00pm August 7th through 28th.
Adult Small Groups for Fall Have you thought it would be great to have a small adult group centered on bible study or hands on mission or
fellowship or a book that intrigues you – or another faith purpose? Trinity’s adult ministries are passion driven. If
you would like to get something started for adults, contact Tammy Dees and she will assist you.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The 2018 Trustees are looking for several volunteers to maintain the landscaping around the church facility. We would like volunteers to trim trees, bushes, shrubs, spray and pull weeds and replenish mulch. With your time and talents, we can maintain a quality look to our facility. Once we have established a group of volunteers, we will then set time frames and tasks.
