• InNovember,JohnmetwithcolleaguesintheStateLibraryNetwork,whichismadeupoftheMarylandStateLibrary,SLRC,LBPHandthethreeRegionalLibraries.Heincludedacopyoftheagendaforthatmeetinginthefolders.PeggyGeislerconsulted.ThereisanothermeetingscheduledforFebruary.

• Staffupdatesforthisyear:MiraBeagleholeisourCatalogMaintenanceSpecialistandJoshuaEdwardsisournewfulltimeDeliveryDriver.WehavehiredthreenewSubstitutedrivers:StephenBlum,KelsieWebsterandKennethWise.Emerson,BuckandLindaareallsteppingdownasSubstituteDrivers.JohnhasincludedanupdatedOrganizationalChartfortheBoard.

• Thereplacementfirewallshavearrivedandareprogrammed.Eliwillbeintouchveryshortlytoscheduletheinstallationofthese.Expectabriefperiodofdowntimethedayoftheinstallation.Ciscoreplacedallofthefirewallsduetoafaultycomponentthatwouldeventuallycausethedevicestofail.

• ThenewswitchesforourFY18erateprojecthavebeenorderedandarescheduledtobedeliveredonDecember6th.InstallationofthesewillbegininlateFebruary/earlyMarch.

• E-resourceusagesheetandcomparisonchartswerehandedout.AlotofthingsdroppedandRachaelfeelsmostofithastodowiththemigrationandbeingoffline.

• TheEgroupisconsideringtwopotentialadditionsfornextfiscalyear.Oneistore-addanationalnewspaperpackageandalsoNicheAcademy,whichisbasicallyshortvideosthatyouembedinyourwebsitethataretutorialsforyoure-resourcesandfrequentlyaskedquestionsforthelibraries.

• HooplausagebyNovemberwasuptoalmost$9,000.00andweonlyhave$80,000.00inthedepositaccountfortheyear,sowewillneedtoaddmoremoney.

• YouthServices:Wearehavingawritingcontesttocelebratethe10thanniversaryofthechildren’sauthorvisits.Kaceyhasmadeuppostersthathavebeensentouttoallofthelibrariesforpromotion.

• TechServices:WeareworkingongettingtheOverdriveAPIfunctional.OnceweconsolidateallofourOverdriveAdvantageaccountsintoone,itwillbealoteasier.

Training(SamEddington):Sam’strainingreportwashandedouttotheBoard.GraphicDesign(KaceyMartin):

• KaceydidherGraphicDesigntrainingonDecember4thwithfullattendanceandreallygoodfeedback.Ifanyonemisseditorisinterestedinthecontent,shecangooverthetrainingwiththemorpossiblyscheduleanotheroneinthespring.

• WejustfinishedtheWritingRadarproject.ThereisapageforitonESRL’swebsitewhereyoucandownloadtheguidelinesandentryforms.

• Sinceithasbeenthreeyearssincewestartedwithaprofessionalprinter,wearegoingtostartare-biddingprocessinFebruarytomakesurethatwearestillgettingthebestpricingandservice.Ifanyonehasacompanythattheywouldliketorecommend,letKaceyknowsothatshecanincludethemintheprocess.

• PrintingaccounttotalsweregiventotheBoard.MSLReport(ReneeCroft):ReneewillgiveherreporttotheBoardatalaterdate.

contractforallofthecountiestohelpwithanyHRquestions,legalities,salarystudies,etc.Shewantedtoseehoweveryonefeltaboutgettinginformationonrates.TheBoarddiscussedthisandJohnwillstartinvestigatingpossibilitiesforaShore-wideHRretainer,startingwithPaulaSinger.

• FrederickDouglassUpdate(DanaNewman):Danapassedoutacountywideactivitiescalendar,includingWorcesterCounty,forFrederickDouglass’200thanniversary.Ifanyoneelsehasactivitiesgoingone,shecanaddthemtothecalendaraswell.Thesewillbelistedandpromotedonseveralorganizations’websites.

• CivilityInitiative(DanaNewman):DanaaskedtheBoardwhattheirlibrariesaredoingforHowardCounty’sCivilityInitiativetrainingandiftheywereapplyingforthegrant.QueenAnne’swillbeapartnerandothercountiesareinterestedinitfortheirstaff.TherewasdiscussionaboutmakingitintoatrainingwithSamorbringinginspeakers.

• PLACharterBus(JohnVenditta):AlotofpeoplehavebeenaskingJohnaboutESRLgettingacharterbusforpeopletoattendPLA.Hehasthoughtaboutitandstillfeelslikeitisn’ttherightchoice.Ifthecountieswanttogrouptogethertogetone,theycanuseServiceEnhancementGrantmoney.
