Basin Highlight Report
The goal of the Basin Highlight Report is to provide review of major events that occurred in the Basin during 2016, including:
• What major events or issues (e.g., extreme drought, increasing development, ongoing issues, record flood) occurred, how water quality was impacted and what was done to respond to water quality issues.
• Summary of Water Quality Monitoring that was conducted, planned including any participating entities and special projects.
• Discussion of water quality, conditions and TCEQ assessment and categorization processes.
• Maps and web site references
• Stakeholder Participation & Public Outreach

Unified Development Code Amendment Project
• Purpose: To create a new, voluntary low impact development and natural channel design development option within the City of San Antonio’s Unified Development Code.
• Status:– Under Technical Advisory
Committee review– Anticipated City Council
consideration in December.
13
Stream Mitigation Bank Project
• Purpose: Collaboration with the Bexar Regional Watershed Management (BRWM) partners, the BRWM Mitigation Bank will restore natural stream functions that will improve the aquatic and riparian health of the creek.
14
Edwards Aquifer Watershed Protection Project
• Purpose: In partnership with UTSA, the Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance, and the Edwards Aquifer Authority, funds implementation of water quality best management practices over the Edwards Aquifer
• Status: – Additional grant funding being sought– UTSA student design coursework
component underway– City of San Antonio assessing
project for aquifer protection salestax funding.
15
Guenther/Euclid StormwaterRetrofit Project
• 319(h) grant awarded by TCEQ
• Currently finishing design
16
Olmos Creek Aquatic Restoration Project
• Working with USACE and COSA to develop language for easements. SARA and COSA met with the mayor of Alamo Heights earlier in May and have his support.
17
School Green Infrastructure Grant
• Purpose: Educate about campus drainage and green infrastructure
• Four grants available for 2015-2016. Applications due January 2016.
18
Bioswale at Floresville South Elementary School
Stormwater Best Management Practices Rebate• Purpose: Provide funds to encourage low impact development pilot
projects to educate government and the development community

Stormwater Monitoring City of San Antonio Pilots
• Purpose: Collects data on three bond project sites prior to stormwater control measure best management practice installation
• Status: Final report on pre-construction data drafted
20
Stormwater Training and Tools
• LID Registration and Certification Program– Development of a program consisting of two courses:
• Design and Construction Inspection Registration • Annual Inspection and Maintenance Certification
• LID Technical Design Manual Worksheets– Development of supplemental worksheets to facilitate
field application based on feedback from manual users
• Annual Training– Target audience: utility contractors
21
Trash and Floatables Mitigation
• Purpose: By centralizing the collection of trash that is carried by stormwater runoff, this project will enhance the health, aesthetics, and recreational use of the creeks and rivers
• Status: moving forward with the installation of two trash mitigation systems.

Watershed Modeling Studies and Planning Program
September 25, 2015
Program OverviewOverseas, coordinates, and
manages projects that relate to data management,
development of tools and techniques for assessing
watershed conditions, and proposing feasible
mitigation solutions.
Program Goals• Assimilate water quality, flood, and physical watershed studies
and modeling data toward informed decision making.
