Initial Items• Roll call of IAT participants and ISP staff• Review of action items from last call:
– Updates on two of the existing NG9-1-1 pilots on today’s call
– Work Group assignments complete– Legislative Environment SWOT completed– Updates to ISP website for NG9-1-1 have been competed
• Still need to work on resource material– Have completed a high-level briefing for VITA and state
leadership to replace governance and technical framework white papers
• Have started working on funding model, but will need insight of participants from funding work group to be able to complete project

New River Valley NG 9-1-1 Pilot• Regional Initiative that involves three localities:
– Towns of Blacksburg– Town of Christiansburg– Montgomery County
• These localities have agreed in concept to consolidate with VA Tech (other localities may join)
• Interoperability Governance:– Authority created to provide a unified approach across multiple jurisdictions
and disciplines:• Vision of Authority will provide a well-managed interoperability infrastructure that
reflects national standards and the needs of the localities • Mission of the Authority is to provide 9-1-1 dispatch and emergency communications
services to people of the New River Valley Region.
• Shared CPE • CAD/RMS consolidation
– Deploy a regional broadband IP network that can support CAD/RMS, 9-1-1 and other public safety communications

Southwest Virginia NG9-1-1 Pilot• Regional initiative that involves four localities in far
Southwest Virginia:– Dickenson County– Lee County– Wise County– City of Norton
• Shared CPE and CAD solution (Side A and B) with Point to Point T1s for connectivity
• This solution was developed by the localities and presented to VITA for support and funding:– Lee County does not yet have Basic 9-1-1– Limited options for connectivity– Recurring costs were a local constraint in evaluating options

• The analysis is by no means complete or final and it only represents the viewpoints of three individuals– Additions– Deletions– Other modifications
• List of priorities was not included• Suggestion made by a work group member to develop
priorities as part of today’s call• Work group members agreed that priorities should be

Updates to Charter• Member of IAT suggested that the Charter
should include a section for expected outcomes to answer, at a minimum, the following questions:– What are the anticipated end results?– What will the information that is generated
through this IAT be used for? • Suggest that an additional group be added
to Major Stakeholders• Contend that Virginia citizens is a
