3IN AWE OF YOUR DEDICATION AND SERVICE TO THE MISSION OF DSGWhat Independent Sector Says About Volunteer Service HoursIndependent Sector is the leadership forum for charities, foundations, and corporate giving programs worldwide. It is a nonpartisan consortium of about 600 organizations. Every year, Independent Sector determines the dollar value of a volunteer hour, and this number is used by the majority of charities across the country.

For 2010, a volunteer hour of service was valued at $21.36.VOLUNTEERINGWhat Does That Mean for the Down Syndrome Guild of Southeast MichiganOur Board of Directors donated almost 800 hours during fiscal 2010-2011

This translates to a service contribution = to $17,088

Volunteers participated in multiple areas and contributed over 2,300 hours of service

This translates to a service contribution = to $49,128

Together, this was a conservative estimate of volunteer service hours = to $66,216
