Forest Design Evolution – since concept selection
FOREST: Starting point for design – included condensed classroom wing at back
SOUTH WING CHANGE: Gym pushed back to allow for basketball court adjacent to gym. Main entry/ cafeteria more defined.
CLASSROOM WING CHANGE: Classrooms separated into two wings allowing a courtyard or “New Forest” in center of building for efficiency. All classrooms have view of existing or new forest.
ADDED LOOP CIRCULATION: Following discussion with School Team and observation at MacArthur, bridge and learning stair added to improve connectivity and allow for possible sensory loops. Direct access between courtyard and play areas maintained.
SHADE CANOPY: Canopy added at gym for shade and connection to roof at media center. Bridges combined to single structure on two levels.
LOOP CIRCULATION CHANGE: Bridges integrated into east wing connecting academic wings. Canopy eliminated and learning stair moved to courtyard façade.

Before You Dive In… The following 10 slides will walk you through three potential applications of three material palettes made up of specified façade materials and colors. The material palettes are in no particular order and no one is favored by the project team.
Please note that the following slides are representations of how the materials and colors may be placed and look. The actual look and placement of colors or materials may be different when it is built. Therefore, if you have an idea on how a palette could be improved, let us know!
