PROFILEI am a Ba(Hons) Textiles student specialising in print and embroidery for fashion. I believe it is important to use a range of techniques within my work to create pieces that have depth and excitement. I draw my influences from anything I find beauty in, especially those things that may be otherwise overlooked. I greatly enjoy using bright colours and other eye-catching surfaces such as glitter and metallics. I am excited to find an opportunity to expand and develop my current skills and work further.
EMPLOYMENTOilily – May- July 2015Print Designer – Internship in Holland where I worked alongside a small team of print designers to design for women’s and children’s clothing. Roles included repeat print and motif design, changing/separating colours, research/mood boards, and backstage help at fashion week. Alongside learning technical skills such as how to prepare prints correctly to be sent off to print, I also learnt valuable lessons on working in a team of designers and living independently in a foreign country.
Brownbread (Bread and Cake stall) – 2011-2017This was a job that I had a lot of responsibility in especially towards the end of my time there. I was required to get to work at 5:30 to prepare for the day and then travel potentially long distances to get to different markets. I was given a lot of responsibility managing the stall which included arranging the stall at the beginning of the day as well as handling money and providing good customer service and building a relationship with regular customers.
Age UK Charity Shop – 2009-2011Volunteer- At the charity shop I very often worked out of the back, which involved selecting what clothing should go out onto the shop floor as well as pricing up.
