The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea, providing lifeboats, lifeguards, safety advice and inland flood rescue primarily in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. The front-line service relies on volunteers, and since it was formed in 1824 has saved over 140,000 lives. Their income in 2012 was £166m, 92% of which came from donations. Three years ago the RNLI embarked on an ambitious, organisation-wide improvement programme one intended not just to make the organisation more efficient, but to change the culture so that it was more agile, more robust and better able to take advantage of new opportunities. It has been a journey of highs and lows, with risks and surprises; it has led the RNLI to a place where it is now able to deliver its strategic plans and adapt to an uncertain world. The RNLI is now thriving with innovation and new ideas at every level. Angela Rook is the Business Support and Development Director that has been responsible for delivering this change programme. At this IoD event she will talk openly about the ‘why’, the ‘how’, the outcomes and lessons learned so far. This event will start with a hot buffet breakfast at 8am, followed by the presentation from Angela and the opportunity for networking throughout. There is no parking available on site however there are public car parks nearby. Members are encouraged to bring colleagues and guests at the members’ ticket price. Leading Change in the RNLI

Friday 25 October 2013 – 7.30am for 8am until 10am (Changed from 24

July)

Waterfront Suite, RNLI College, West Quay Road, Poole, Dorset, BH15 1HZ

The Institute of Directors in Dorset is delighted to be hosting a breakfast event

at the RNLI College, with Angela Rook, Business Support and Development

Director talking about leading change and the unforeseen challenges

of improvement programmes – whether in the private or public sector.

Three years ago the RNLI embarked on an ambitious, organisation-wide improvement programme – one intended not just to make the organisation more efficient, but to change the culture so that it was more agile, more robust and better able to take advantage of new opportunities.

Please book using the form below or online at www.iod.com/swestevents.
