Christine Ohlman is the “Beehive Queen”. Singer, song-writer, musicologist and long-time vocalist with the SaturdayNight Live band, She has earned her reputation as the artistwho will electrify any occasion with her legendary voice andstage presence. Her resume’ reads like the “who’s who” ofblues, rock, and soul royalty and is only matched by the countless awards she has received; including inductioninto the Nat’l Blues Hall of Fame. Mixing a fiery blend of rootsy Americana with old school soul, and backed by Rebel Montez, Ohlman tells her audiences,” I’ve come toset your souls on fire… And she will.
From the salvaged sounds of American juke joints, back porches, honky-tonk and rock clubs, The Suitcase Junket conjures an entirely new sound of original rock anthems, mountain ballads and blues. It is magnificent, rousing, image driven song writing; played out on instruments built of broken bottles, dried bones, gas cans, saw blades and scavenged instruments.
Atlanta’s genre blending ensemble has been creating a unique sound; reinventing the magic of 1920’s Ragtime coupled with Dixieland and a little Gypsy Jazz. Together Blair and the band have been touring the country playing to sold-out venues, often sharing the stage with Mumford & Sons and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. A multi-instrumentalist, and music academic, Crimmins writes both the songs and arrangements for his superb New Orleans style horn section. He adds his own southern swinging flair, delivered with lively antics, and humor.
