manpower can be monitored at Head office. As internet is getting popular, this

System provides Online Desk System which can be accessed from anywhere,

    anytime.

    INTODUCTION TO PROJECT:-

The EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM has been developed to

override the problems prevailing in the practicing manual system. This

software is supported to eliminate and in some cases reduce the hardships

faced by this existing system. Moreover this system is designed for the

particular need of the company to carry out operations in a smooth and

    effective manner.

The application is reduced as much as possible to avoid errors while

entering the data. It also provides error message while entering invalid data.

No formal knowledge is needed for the user to use this system. Thus by this all

    it proves it is user-friendly.

This Synopsis Describe how EMS (Employee management System) Will

Works And how can it manage Employee Attends, Leave, Company vehicle

management and Payroll management. With using EMS Employee are

managed in very manageable Way. This application is For an Every Department

of Organization. It Support, Service or Maintenances from PC user who are the

    employees of the company.

    Purpose:-

Objective of this software project is to create a System which can

host Employee management system (EMS) provide System to

maintain the information regarding Human Resources through field

offices. So, that manpower can be monitored at Head office. As

internet is getting popular, this System provides Online Desk System

which can be accessed from anywhere, anytime. As we know in any

technical educational office, the manager of office used to spare lot

of time even after the normal office hours either at home or office

for preparation of daily/weekly report and other necessary record.

Now with the help of this system ,the manager has the informationon his finger tips and can easily prepare a record based on their

requirements apart from daily/weekly report. Finally,We can say that

this system will not only auto-mate the process but save the valuable

time of the office manager, which can be well utilized by this

institute. This will be an additional advantage and manage-ment of

manpower based on their free time from his normal duty.

    Scope:-

Project Duration:-Approximately 12 to 13 weeks to finish the project including testing and coding.

    FEASIBILITY STUDY:-

  • 8/13/2019 DOCUMENTATION of Employee Management System

    13/88

The feasibility study of this project has revealed the project as

    follows: -

    Organizational feasibility:-

Focus on how well a proposed system supports the business priorities of

    the organization

    ECONOMIC FEASIBILITY

The project has shown the economic feasibility by the study of

the fact that by using this software the increased number of the

consumers can be given service effectively and efficiently and can

save a lot time and saving time means saving money. The cost and

benefit analysis has shown that cost that have incurred in

developing the project is less than the benefits that the project is

going to provide once it is developed, so this project has passed the

    feasibility test.

    BEHAVIOURAL FEASIBILITY

The working staff members are also interested in this project, as it

will help them to do work with ease and efficiently without

  • 8/13/2019 DOCUMENTATION of Employee Management System

    14/88

complexity, so they supported the development of this project with

full enthusiasm. This shows the behavioral feasibility of the project.

    TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY :-

Technical feasibility centers on the existing computer system (Hardware,

Software etc) and to what extent it supports the existing system. As the

existing system computer system is viable so there is no matter of technical

feasibility that is the system is technically feasible.

    TIME FEASIBILITY

It is the determination of whether a proposed project can be implemented

fully within stipulated time frame. The project was decided to be done in

three months and was thought to be feasible enough.

    Schedule feasibility:-

Focus on the solution to be design and implemented within an acceptable time

    period

Requirements Determination or information gathering is one of the

most important phases of software developing process.

  • 8/13/2019 DOCUMENTATION of Employee Management System

    15/88

If at this stage information is not gathered properly their then it may create many

    big problems.

    REQUIREMENT ANALYSIS:-

The aim of requirement analysis is to understand the exact

requirement of the customer and to document and to document

them properly. Requirement analysis involves obtaining a clear and

thorough understanding of the product to be developing with a view

to remove all ambiguities and inconsistencies from the initial

    customer perception the problem.

The question arising during the requirement analysis phases is:-

    What is the problem?

Why is it important to solve the problem?

What are the possible solutions to the problem?

What exactly are the data inputs and data outputs by

    system?

What are the likely the complex cities that might arise

    while solving the problem?

During requirement analysis there exist mainly two activities.

    1. Requirement gathering

    2. Analysis of gathered requirements.

    Requirement gathering: -

  • 8/13/2019 DOCUMENTATION of Employee Management System

    16/88

This involves interviewing the end user and customers to collect all

    possible information regarding the bank.

    Analysis of gathered requirement: -

The main purchase of analysis is to collect information to clearly understand

the exact requirement of customer and resolve anomalies, conflicts and

    inconsistencies in the gathered requirement.

    System Evaluation:-

Evaluate or judge the performance of a system over a longer time period

than that just after immediate installation

Four problem areas contribute to system failure

    1) Design:

    - System perfect to capture essentials business requirements.- Good format of the system

    - Good user interface2) Cost

    - Cost to implement does not be over budget- System project does not be too costly to complete

    3) Data

    - Data accurate or consistent and properly organized- Information in certain fields prevent to be erroneous or ambiguous- Data complete

    4) Operation

    - System does run perfectly- Information is in timely and efficient manner- Response time may is not too long

  • 8/13/2019 DOCUMENTATION of Employee Management System

    17/88

    1) Cost and benefit analysis

The typical failure of a cost benefit analysis is not including all the costs.

In the case of the stamping machine, here are some of the overlooked

    costs:

    Installation

what will it cost to remove the manual handling and install the new software?

Will you have to special operating system to install software? Will you need

special people to install all related software in your computer?

    Operator?

Somebody has to operate this software. Does this person need special

training? What will the operator's salary, including overhead, cost?

    Environment

Will the new operating system is best fit to work on this software? Will the new

operating system and software tools increase the insurance premiums for the

    company?

Once you have collected ALL the positive and negative factors and have

quantified them you can put them together into an accurate cost benefit analysis.

Some people like to total up all the positive factors (benefits), total up all thenegative factors (costs), and find the difference between the two. I prefer to

group the factors together. It makes it easier for you, and for anyone reviewingyour work, to see that you have included all the factors on both sides of the

issues that make up the cost benefit analysis.

Its hardware and software configuration is not very costly thatmeans

The hardware and software requirement for this software/projectare not very costly.

Level of normalized applied Levels of normalization

Each level of normalization relies on the previous level. Forexample, to conform to Second Normal Form, entities must be in

    first Normal Form

    Benefits of normalization

    The benefits of normalization include:

Searching, sorting, and creating indexes is faster, since tables are narrower,

and more rows fit on a data page?

    You usually have more tables.

You can have more clustered indexes (one per table), so you get more

    flexibility in tuning queries.

Index searching is often faster, since indexes tend to be narrower and shorter.

More tables allow better use of segments to control physical placement of

    data.

You usually have fewer indexes per table, so data modification commandsare faster.

Fewer null values and less redundant data, making your database more

    compact.

Triggers execute more quickly if you are not maintaining redundant data.

    Data modification anomalies are reduced.

Normalization is conceptually cleaner and easier to maintain and change as

    your needs change.

    First Normal Form

The rules for First Normal Form are:

  • 8/13/2019 DOCUMENTATION of Employee Management System

    20/88

Every column must be atomic. It cannot be decomposed into two or more sub

    columns.

You cannot have multivalued columns or repeating groups.

Each row and column position can have only one value.

    Second Normal Form

For a table to be in Second Normal Form, every non-key field must depend onthe entire primary key, not on part of a composite primary key. If a database has

only single-field primary keys, it is automatically in Second Normal Form.

    Third Normal Form

For a table to be in Third Normal Form, a non-key field cannot depend on

    another non-key field.

    List of validation applied

    Required Field Validator:-

Ensures that the user does not skip an entry.

    Compare Validator:-

Compares a user's entry against a constant value, against the value of another

control (using a comparison operator such as less than, equal, or greater than),

or for a specific data type

    Range Validator:-

Checks that a user's entry is between specified lower and upper boundaries. You

can check ranges within pairs of numbers, alphabetic characters, and dates.

    Regular Expression validator:-

  • 8/13/2019 DOCUMENTATION of Employee Management System

    21/88

Checks that the entry matches a pattern defined by a regular expression. This

type of validation enables you to check for predictable sequences of characters,

such as those in e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, postal codes, and so on.

    Custom Validator:-

Checks the user's entry using validation logic that you write yourself. This type

of validation enables you to check for values derived at run time.

The Data Flow Diagram is a pictorial or graphical representation of the outline

of the system. The Data Flow Diagram covers all the processes, which takes

place during any transaction in the system. The Data Flow are functionality

    What is Data Dictionary?

A data dictionary is a catalog-a repository-of the elements in a system. As

the name suggests, these elements center on data and the way they are

structured to meet user requirements and organization needs. In a data

dictionary you will find a list of all the elements composing the data flowing

through a system. The major elements are data flow, data stores, and processes.

The data dictionary stores details and descriptions of these elements.

  • 8/13/2019 DOCUMENTATION of Employee Management System

    25/88

The analysis model encompasses representations of data object, functions

and control. In each representation data objects and/or control items play a role.

Therefore, it is necessary to provide an organized approach for representing the

characteristics of each data and control item. This is accomplished with the data

    dictionary.

The data dictionary is organized listing of all data elements that are

pertinent to the system, with precise, rigorous definitions so that both user and

system analyst will have a common understanding of inputs, outputs,

components of stores and intermediate calculations.

If analysts want to know how many characters are in a data item, by what

other names it is referenced in the system, or where it is used in the system, they

should be able to find the answers in a properly developed data dictionary.

The dictionary is developed during data flow analysis and assists the analyst

involved in determining systems requirements. However, its contents are used

    during system design as..

    Methodology used for testing

    Black Box Testing

The technique of testing without having any knowledge of the interior workings of the

application is Black Box testing. The tester is oblivious to the system architecture and doesnot have access to the source code. Typically, when performing a black box test, a tester will

interact with the system's user interface by providing inputs and examining outputs without

knowing how and where the inputs are worked upon.

    White Box Testing

White box testing is the detailed investigation of internal logic and structure of the code.

White box testing is also called glass testing or open box testing. In order to perform white

box testing on an application, the tester needs to possess knowledge of the internal working

    of the code.

The tester needs to have a look inside the source code and find out which unit/chunk of the

    code is behaving inappropriately.

    Grey Box Testing

Grey Box testing is a technique to test the application with limited knowledge of the internal

workings of an application. In software testing, the term the more you know the better carries

a lot of weight when testing an application.

Mastering the domain of a system always gives the tester an edge over someone with limited

domain knowledge. Unlike black box testing, where the tester only tests the application's user

interface, in grey box testing, the tester has access to design documents and the database.Having this knowledge, the tester is able to better prepare test data and test scenarios when

    making the test plan.

    Limitation of system

    Future Scope

    2) Conclusion

The Employee Management Systemhas been developed by me through

applying my knowledge gained in class room, referring to certain books,

browsing some sites and through the help of external and internal facultiesand using my own knowledge related to the subject itself.

No project can be teamed as perfect in real sense and there alwaysremains scope for further improvement and so that helps to develop a new

version. I am always eager to know some new points and validation related

to the projects and which give me more knowledge and helps me to create

    new version.

I would like to thank the project guide and Organization staffs that

extended all their support and helped me complete this project successfully.
