The need for

advanced

security is

becoming

commonplace.

Security options

can be added to

most MFPs and

departmental

printers.

Simple security suites: staff can identify themselves using swipe cards, PINs or fingerprints to

securely collect their documents; cost-savings and improved efficiency are an added bonus.

Using standard features: The printers and multifunctionals supplied by ITQ contain many standard

features that can improve security at no cost.

Other Digests in our Document Security series...

Optional hardware can reinforce security and convenience

Data protection imposes a high duty of care on numerous organisations and

professions. Health, financial, employment, legal and corporate data now need a

level of security on printed and stored documents that was previously reserved for

military secrets. There are several options available.

Encryption of stored data

Storing common documents on a printer’s hard disk is convenient for staff

but theft or disposal can leave that data vulnerable. Enabling encryption

prevents unauthorised exposure.

Secure deletion

Modern recovery techniques can restore a staggering amount of ’deleted’

information. By over-writing every byte of an unwanted document, secure

deletion puts it beyond revival.

Secure cabling

Data travelling through standard copper cabling can be intercepted but fibre

optic cabling transmits data using pulses of light instead of electricity so is

immune to such snooping.

The simple options?

If convenience and privacy are your goals more than security,

adding a mailbox unit to a shared device keeps one person’s

documents separate from another. Alternatively, personal

printers may be appropriate for key executives.

Let ITQ secure your document systems

Implementing an advanced security strategy is a time-consuming and specialised

task. ITQ would be delighted to discuss your concerns and the available options.
