FADE IN:

EXT. NEIGHBORHOOD STREET – DAY

We pan through the ideal suburban neighborhood. The sky is blue. The sun is shining. Because now it’s almost summer.

SONG: THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS “The Last Song” begins to play

We continue down the street. We dissolve further and further up the street.

INT. BAM’S HOUSE – DAY

We go right through a door into a house. The camera goes down the hall right through a door.

SONG ENDS

INT. BAM’S ROOM – DAY

The camera stops at a boy sleeping. His eyes are shut tightly. Then an alarm goes off. His eyes open. We then realize that he’s on the floor.

He reaches his arm off blindly, to try to shut off the alarm off. He reaches and reaches. He finds it and starts smacking it.

Along side the clock is a pair off scissors. He picks them up and cuts the cord on the clock. The clock stops as he falls back to sleep.

His eyes are barely shut before a phone starts ringing. He again reaches up and grabs a blue cell phone. He jerks it off the nightstand and puts it to his ear.

BAMHello.

TOMMY(V.O.)You still asleep?

BAMYes Tommy. It’s Sunday. It’s normal to sleep late on Sundays.

TOMMY(V.O.)I know it’s normal to sleep in on Sundays, but how about Mondays?

The boy, BAM, opens his eyes.

BAMYou’re kidding.

TOMMY(V.O.)Monday morning, the 18th at 7:34 a.m.

Bam tosses his cell phone in the air. WE follow it as it lands on Bam’s bed. The camera concentrates on the phone where we can hear Tommy talking.

CUT TO:

EXT. BAM’S DRIVEWAY – MORNING

Bam hops on his bike and speeds off down the street.

CUT TO:

EXT. STREET – CONTINUOUS - MORNING

Bam is riding down the street with the cool air blowing in his face. He rides alone until another bike pulls up next to him. This is TOMMY, Bam’s best friend.

BAMMorning Tommy? Where’s Will?

TOMMYHe should be here any moment.

Once the words come out, another bike comes along side them. This would be Will. Will comes in a little close, colliding into Bam, causing Bam to collide with Tommy.

The hit is so much that Tommy totally loses control. He heads straight for a parked car. He slams on his brakes so hard that he flys off, like a clown shot out of a cannon. He smacks into the windshield like a bug heading straight into a truck.

CUT TO:

EXT. LA COSTA HIGH SCHOOL – ESABLISHING – MORNING

Students cram the streets with their BMWs, Lexus’s, and Honda Civics.

BAM(V.O.)That’s my school. It’s actually a nice school after you get pass all the social misfits that inhabit it. This is the setting of our story. For a while it is. School’s almost over. Then we’ll be free. For a while. Then we’ll be back. Back here.

CUT TO:

INT. MRS. LEMON’S HEALTH CLASS – MORNING

The class is filled with social losers. Most are slunked in their desks. Tommy and Bam sitting in the front. Will is stands in front of the class giving a speech.

WILLAnd with theses hopes and dreams of mine, I can assure you, that if you but your heart to anything you will succeed. No Tommyer what the obstacle. You will come out the victor. Not only in your mind, but in your soul as well.

He finishes. MRS. LEMON a bright cheery eyed women in her early forties, starts clapping from behind her desk.

MRS. LEMONThat was great William. What was your inspiration?

WILLOh I got it from the back of a Wheaties box.

Mrs. Lemon looks bewildered from this comment.

MRS. LEMONSit down.

Will sits down as the classroom door opens up. Everyone in the room freezes. A boy walks in. No any boy. But BO JENKINS. Bo is the all-American boy. Not only is he a genius but also the starting quarterback.

MRS. LEMON(GAZING)Well hello Bo.

BOMorning Mrs. Lemon.

TIME STOPS.

TITLE ON SCREEN:

BO JENKINS. HIGH SCHOOL QUARTERBACK.

Then every after school project that he’s had appears.

BEGIN MONTAGE:

BO HELPING OLD LADIES CROSSING THE STREET. TITLE: OLD PERSON REHABILITATION SEMINAR

BO USING TWO BABIES AS WEIGHTS. TITLE: NEW WAYS TO AEROBICIZE WITH YOUR NEW BORN BABY DEMONSTRATION

BO COOKING WITH A HAIRNET AS A FOOTBALL COMES CRASHING INTO HIS GIANT COOKING POT FOLLOWED BY GUNSHOTS. TITLE: INNERCITY FOOTBALL

PICNIC.

MONTAGE ENDS:

TIME BEGINS.

Bo walks into the middle of the classroom.

BOI was wondering if I could give an announcement.

MRS. LEMONWell of course hone.

BOThanks.

The class listens up. Well the girls do. Guys not so much.

BOAs you all might know, that last dance is soon. We all need you support to make this the best dance possible.

A girl in the front named raises her hand.

BOYes?

GIRLIs it a formal dance?

BONope.

GIRLOkay. And are you going with anyone?

Bo just smiles.

BOThanks Mrs. Lemon.

Bo turns and leaves. Tommy says something as he leaves. Bo hears it but doesn’t make it out, so he leaves.

CUT TO:

EXT. PARKING LOT – DAY

Bam walks along through the parking lot. He looks directly into the camera.

BAMThis is my high school. It’s filled with every sort of reject known to mankind.We have the most clubs out of any high school in the United States…

MONTAGE:

A boy sitting at a table with about four others jumps to his feet.

BOYYahtzee!

BAM(V.O.)We have a Yahtzee club.

A girl on a football field launches a javelin into the sky. It lands right through a BARBIE DOLL.

BAM(V.O.)The Javelin Club against Women Defamation League.

A group of rather nerdy looking fellows they huddle around a robotic arm filled with wires and moving parts.

BAM(V.O.)And finally the Robotic Arm Wrestling Club.

The nerds back up as the robotic arm starts going crazy and starts knocking the crap out of the nerds.

MONTAGE ENDS:

EXT. SCHOOL – DAY

Bam is giving us another tour of the campus. He walks past kids, some weird, some not so weird.

BAMAnd finally, the girls. There are tons.

Everywhere we look there they are. Girls and girls.

BAMI only know a few, but the ones I do are certifiably insane. With the exception of just one. They locked her up a long time ago.

MONTAGE OF GIRLS:.

Below we give each of their name:

A beautiful young girl the same age as Bam. This is CRYSTAL SIMMONS.

Next is ELIZABETH CHAMBERS. Elizabeth is also beautiful. She’s probably the nicest girl you can meet. But has a way of… we’ll let you figure it out.

And finally ADDIE MATHERS. She’s the one. Well sort of. For at least a while.

There’s more that we’ll meet later.

EXT. PARKING LOT – DAY

Bam is back walking through the parking lot. It looks like school has just gotten out.

He stops in front of an old beat up STATION WAGON. It’s like really old. Really old.

BAMThis is our car. We all pitched in to pay for some of it. It took us from the summer before seventh grade to the year when we finally decided to sell are collectible bobble heads to buy this beauty.

INT. STATION WAGON – DAY

Bam hops inside. Tommy is at the wheel, with Will in the back seat.

BAMYou all know Will and Tommy. These are my best friends.

TOMMYHi.

They pull out of the parking lot.

CUT TO:

EXT. STREET – DAY

The old station wagon come to a screeching halt a stoplight.

I/E. – STATION WAGON/ BMW

The boys sit in the car. All’s silent. A BMW comes to a stop right next to them.

BAMThree o’clock.

Will looks over to his right. Bo sticks his head out of the window. In the front we see one of his cronies Chuck.

BONice car Norrington.

BAMOh thanks Bo. It really means a lot to me coming out of you.

BOSo Tommy seen your girlfriend lately?

TOMMYWhat’s it to you?

BOOh nothing. Just wondering if you knew that she was enjoying the pleasure of our company.

The back window of the beamer rolls down and there’s Elizabeth. What is she doing in the car of the enemy?

BOYeah the guys and me are talking the girls out to lunch. Care to join us?

We see a few more girls in the back, all with BLONDE HAIR. AMY sticks her head out.

AMYSorry you can’t join us boys. But here’s a present.

She chucks a water balloon right inside the station wagon. It hits Tommy right in the face. They all start laughing.

BOAmy! Those were for throwing at them later.

Bo winds up her window. She’s still out there sticking her tongue out at them. Her hair gets caught and she starts screaming for Bo.

BO(over her screams) Nice talking with you boys.

The beamer pulls away with everyone laughing with the occasional scream.

TOMMYWhat’s she doing back there?

BAMI don’t know. What’s Amy’s problem?

TOMMYShe’ hated a little more everyday.

BAMYeah.

Bam, Will, and Tommy sit there. They turn as a bright red SUV pulls up to there left.

I/E. – STATION WAGON/ SUV

Crystal sticks there heads out of the back the SUV.

CRYSTALWhat happened to you?

TOMMYI’m sure you can guess.

CRYSTALBo?

TOMMYCourse.

Another girl sticks her head out to. This is ADDIE.

ADDIEHey Bam.

BAMHey Addie.

ADDIEYou still going out with Amy?

BAMNah.

ADDIEOh I’m sorry.

BAMYeah too bad she wasn’t

The girl driving, JOSIE, turns around and starts screaming at them.

JOSIEStop flirting and roll up you windows. Hey guys. Sorry, we’re in a rush.

CRYSTALLater guys.

ADDIEBye Bam.

Their windows roll up as they speed off, music blaring.

BAMWhy was Addie being so nice to me?

TOMMYShe is your friend.

BAMYeah but we don’t really hang out or ever talk.

TOMMYFirst time for everything.

BAMI guess.

They all sit there.

BAMHow long have we been sitting here?

CUT TO:

INT. PARK – DUSK

The three loners are sitting in swings. They swing lightly back and forth. The sun is setting a bright red. It’s actually rather beautiful.

TOMMYEvery time I see her she’s with him.

BAMYou can’t let it get you down. You know she’s not that kind of girl. She’d never cheat.

WILLShe might not know she’s cheating.

They all sit and ponder.

BAMYeah but she’s no that stupid.

WILLNo there was that one time when she though Mount Vernon was the really big mountain with the faces carved into it.

BAMTrue.

TOMMYI don’t believe she’d do it.

BAMYou’re just in denial. You’ve been like this since you started going out.

TOMMYI have not.

WILLYou have.

TOMMYLike how?

BAMLike when you tried to hold her hand and she pulled a Bruce Lee and flipped you into a desk.

TOMMYThat was an accident.

BAMShe though you were mugging her.

TOMMYSo.

WILLAnd the time when you tried to kiss her and she stopped you telling you that you were disturbing her personal bubble. You remember that?

He looks stunned.

TOMMYOh my God! That’s it.

BAMThat’s what?

TOMMYShe’s afraid of commitment!

BAMOf course, she’s fifteen.

He flies off the swing.

TOMMYShe can’t do any of it.

BAMOkay.

TOMMYNo she can’t do anything. That’s’ why I can’t hold her, kiss her, or anything.

BAMIs this going somewhere?

TOMMYYes!

WILLAnd it is?

TOMMYMy girlfriend is trapped in a bubble!

His shouts echo through the sky.

TOMMYAnd you want to know how I’m gonna fix it?

BAMUm, pop it?

He grabs him.

TOMMYNo. I got to confront her. That’s all.

BAMOh dear God you’re serious.

TOMMYYou bet.

WILLYou are serious.

TOMMYYep.

WILLYou’re telling me you’re going to change everything that you are just for a girl.

TOMMYNo. Thee girl.

He takes off out of the park. He gets into the station wagon. He drives off screaming out his window.

TOMMYI’ll talk to you guys later.

He’s gone.

BACK ON BAM AND WILL

They both sit there a little shell-shocked.

BAMWait.

WILLI know. He’s on his way to ruin his life.

BAMNo! He took the car!

Will just stares at him.

WILLYou know that our friend is on his way to ruin his life and we’re not going to stop him?

BAMYeah I know but he took the car.

WILLBam!

BAMWhat?

WILLYou know were going to have to stop him.

BAMYeah I guess.

WILLLet’s go.

Will gets up to leave, but Bam stays.

WILLCome on we’re walking.

BAMDoes it require me getting off the swing?

WILLYes.

BAMThen no we’re not.

CUT TO:

EXT. PARKING LOT – MORNING

Bam is walking through the parking lot before school starts. Hr turns to talk to the camera.

BAMSchool is almost over. Just a week left. I finished all my classes almost twice as fast as I should of. Because of that I’m forced to take classes that I would never take. Including band.

MONTAGE:

Bam is sitting with the band. He’s playing a tuba. He sucks beyond belief. It sounds like someone trying to strangle Flipper. FLIII-HOONNN!!!

BAMIt’s really sad because my band teacher thinks I’m perpetually retarded.

The band teacher starts to poke Bam with his conducting stick. He starts jabbing him in the chest and Bam looks really annoyed, as he continues to play badly.

MONTAGE ENDS

EXT. SCHOOL – DAY

Bam walks past through the school, past all the students He finds Will.

BAMWill.

Will turns around and he’s with a girl.

BAMWhat’s she doing here?

The girl MIA, speaks up.

MIAI’ve missed you to Bam.

BAMIt’s nothing personal Mia, but you keep breaking my fiends heart, and it’s

BAM(CONT’D)causing him and me serious emotional stress.

Will just sits back and lets them get into it.

MIAOh I’m sorry Bam, I just forgot that it’s really none of your business.

BAMMy is my business when you hurt my friends.

MIATouching. (To Will)I’ll see you later. It seems I’m not entirely wanted.

She kissed him and leaves.

BAMWhat are you doin with her Will?

WILLWe made up.

BAMI see that. You know the third time isn’t necessarily a charm.

WILLI know. I think we we’re made for each other.

BAMMade for each other?

WILLIt might sounds crazy now, but I can’t stop thinking about her.

Bam can’t believe what he’s hearing.

WILLAnd it will work. It has too. Either that or I could go out with one of your exes.

BAMThat’s not funny.

WILLI was being serious. I could take my pick of blonde, brunet, obsessive compulsive, or mind-altering substance talking.

BAMThey weren’t mind altering.

WILLThen what were they.

BAMPainkiller for horses.

Bam turns and starts walking away. Will jumps to his feet, backpack slung over his shoulder, and catches up.

WILLLook.

Bam stops to hear Will out.

WILLI know what Amy did to you, but you need to get over it. You got dumped by a girl that had to skip third period because she got her skirt caught in a vending machine.

BAMIt was a vending machine? I heard fax machine.

WILLAnyways, you just need to find someone new. You know she’s out there. Probably right under your nose.

Will starts to walk away as Bam stands there still thinking about what Will said.

WILLDon’t forget you have to pick me up at eight for the party at McKenzie’s house.

BAMYeah alright.

Will keeps turns his back and walks away. Bam stands there pondering. He looks to his left as, Addie along with Crystal, sit and enjoy life. She looks at him and smiles. Bam looks away.

BAMThe right girl huh.

CUT TO:

EXT. WILL’S HOUSE – NIGHT

Will comes strolling out of his house. He waits alone on his drive way. He whistles to himself, kicks some rocks, until his attention is grabbed to the station wagon speeding around the corner going sixty.

He takes a couple of steps back as the station wagon comes to a screeching halt right in front of him.

WILLYou’re late.

Bam’s at the wheel with Tommy in the front seat.

BAMLate? The party starts at nine.

WILLIt’s eight fifty.

BAMYeah. What’s you point?

WILLNothing.

Will reaches for the door handle as the car inches forward.

WILLThat’s real funny.

We hear the chuckles coming from inside the car. Will reaches again. The car inches forward again. The laughter gets louder.

WILLIt’s not funny anymore.

BAMWell from our perspective it’s hi-fickin-larious.

Will tries to catch them off guard but he doesn’t. They still laugh. Will starts grabbing again and again. The car keeps moving until it collides with giant trash containers.

CUT TO:

EXT. MCKENZIES HOUSE – NIGHT

Tons of people pour into a large house, bursting with music, and noise.

The station wagon comes bursting up the street and stops before talking out about six teens.

The boys get out the car and walk up to the house.

INT. MCKENZIES HOUSE – NIGHT

The house is cover in food, clothing, and more food. There’s got to be at least a hundred people. Barely standing room only.

Plastic cups litter the floor. People dance to the music while others just sit and talk.

Bam, Tommy, and Will walk through the house playing the cool routine.

A girl stands out because she’s running around picking up trash and stuffing it into giant trash bag.

She stops in frustration. Obviously this is McKenzie.

MCKENZIELook everyone! We have to clean up before my parents get home. Come on! If they come home I’m dead.

RANDOM VOICE(O.S.)Then why’d you have a party ditzy, ha ha!

MCKENZIEWho said that? I want whoever said that to leave now!

She starts breaking down in tears.

MCKENZIEI hate you all!

She storm out with out anybody knowing.

INT. MCKENZIES HOUSE – LATER

Bam and Tommy are talking to Crystal and other people. They seem to be having a good time.

CRYSTALWhere’s Will?

BAMMia.

CRSTALMia? Again? That’s funny.

BAMYeah.

They kind of go silent.

CRYSTALHey Bam.

BAMYeah.

CRYSTALI think you should ask Addie out. She likes you.

BAMAddie? I barely know her. I only know her through you guys.

CRYSTALThat’s what I told her but she likes you. For what reason I don’t know.

BAMYou think I should?

CRYSTALYeah I do.

BAMAlright where is she?

Bam gets up to find her but Crystal stops him.

CRYSTALWait, wait, wait. You can’t ask her out if you don’t even like her. You have to wait until you do, if ever. Then when you’re sure, you ask.

BAMOkay. I’ll think about.

CRYSTALGood, I’m glad. (she moves closer to him)And if you hurt her after you do, I’ll stable your ears to your forehead.

Bam sits back in his chair confused and a little frightened. Tommy gets to his feet, as Mr. All-American walks in, with what it seems to be the entire offensive line. Elizabeth, Amy, and some other girls.

TOMMYWhat are you doin with them?

ELIZABETHNothing, I’m just hanging out with Amy.

BAMSeems like more than that.

AMYYou wanna say something Bam?!

BAMWell I think I just did.

Amy moves forward as if she wants to actually fight with him. Elizabeth holds her back.

ELIZABETHDon’t Kay.

TOMMYLook I’m sorry. Can we just go and talk somewhere.

ELIZABETHNo I don’t want to.

She starts to turn and walk away. Tommy grabs her hand and stops her.

TOMMYPlease. For me.

Bo steps up in front of her.

BOLook she said no. Just back off.

TOMMYStep off Bo this doesn’t concern you.

BOI think it does.

Bo pushes Tommy back his finger, and Tommy reacts by sending him a lightning fast right hook to his face.

Bo hits the ground like a bag of rocks.

ELIZABETHTommy!

She pushes him back as she aids Bo getting up.

ELIZABETHWhat’s the Tommyer with you?!

Tommy’s fist is still clutched, ready to strike. Bo wipes his lip, that’s dripping in blood.

Tommy turns and storms out.

BAMTommy!

ELIZABETHWhat’s wrong with him?

BAMYou

Bam leave and chases after Tommy. He can’t believe what Tommy’s just done. He’s taken a stand. Tommy’s just done what we’ve all wanted to. He’s knocked out the quarterback for hitting on his girlfriend.

EXT. STATION WAGON – NIGHT

Tommy is out by the station wagon. He looks furious. Bam strolls up to him, and stops.

BAMWhat was that about?

TOMMYI couldn’t take it anymore. I can’t take it anymore.

BAMTake what? Him or her?

TOMMYHer.

BAMReally?

TOMMYYeah. I tried. I tried. I can’t deal with her anymore. She won’t let me in. She’s distancing herself from me. She has been. Since the day I met her. I take it anymore. That’s it.

BAMI’ve heard you say this before.

TOMMYWell duh, I say this about everyone who dumps me.

Bam nods along.

TOMMYBut she’s the one I wanted. She’s the one.

BAMI know. Let’s find Will and get out of here.

TOMMYWe just need a plunger to unstuck him from that toilet he’s dating.

They start walking towards the house.

BAMCan I crash at your house?

TOMMYYeah. Let’s get Will.

CUT TO:

INT. TOMMY’ HOUSE – MORNING

Bam springs up from Tommy’s couch. It’s early, the bright Sunday light pouring in.

He wipes his eyes, messes up his hair. Tommy is asleep on the other couch.

BAMTommy.

Tommy’s still asleep.

BAMTommy!

Tommy turns over once. Bam grabs a shoe and chucks it ay his head.

TOMMYWhat. Sleeping. Come back later.

BAMTommy. Where’s Will?

Tommy springs right up.

TOMMYI dunno.

CUT TO:

INT. MCKENZIES HOUSE – MORNING

McKenzie’s dad comes into his kitchen with a bathrobe, and a newspaper, to find Will asleep on his kitchen table.

He stands there speechless.

CUT TO:

INT. LOCKER ROOM – DAY

Bam is putting on his gym shoes. He turns to the camera to give his thoughts of the day.

BAMI’ve decided. She’s the one I’ve been looking for. So I’m going to do it. I’m gong ask her.

EXT. BASEBALL FIELD – DAY

Bam’s P.E. class is plating softball. Bam stands out in center field. Addie strolls up with one of her girlfriends. Bam stands there as they stay in front of him.

Addie’s friend leaves, as she’s called away, from off camera. Addie just stands there and so does Bam.

Addie starts playing with her nails. Bam has his hands in his pockets.

BAMHey Addie.

Addie doesn’t look behind.

ADDIEYeah.

BAMI was wondering… maybe…

ADDIEYeah.

BAMWould you go out with me?

She looks behind her. She smiles a big, beautiful smile.

ADDIEYeah. Of course.

Bam smiles back as she turns back around.

BAMAlright.

They both stand there, about five feet away. They did this without making any real eye contact.

Ah, the beauty of teen love.

CUT TO:

EXT. SCHOOL – DAY

Bam is walking through the school after P.E. We can detect a sort of happiness in his step.

Crystal comes into view and starts running towards Bam.

CRYSTALYou did it?

BAMI did it.

She opens her arms and gives him a giant bear hug.

CRYSTALThat’s so great!

BAMYeah it really is.

CRYSTALYou remember if you hurt her I’ll hurt you?

BAMYeah I know.

CRYSTALAlright. I’ll see ya later stud.

She turns and starts walking away.

BAMHey Crystal?

She stops.

CRYSTALYeah.

BAMWhat’s Addie’s phone number?

She smiles.

She comes up and starts righting it down on his hand.

CRYSTALGot it?

BAMYeah.

She turns and leaves.

Bam looks at the number. She spins and starts strutting away.

CUT TO:

INT. STATION WAGON – DAY

Bam gets into the station wagon. He’s smiling a really big smile. Tommy is next to him.

TOMMYWhat’re you so happy about.

BAMI did it.

TOMMYYou did?

BAMYep.

TOMMYThat’s great. Cause me and Elizabeth just ended it.

Bam soaks in the shock.

BAMI’m sorry.

TOMMYYeah I know. It’s okay, I’ve had these two to keep me company.

Will and Mia pop up out of the backseat.

WILLI’m sorry Tommy.

BAMWhat’s she doing back here?

WILLShe’s with me.

BAMI can see that. Know get her out.

MIAWhat’s your problem Bam?

BAMI can give you two guesses.

MIAOh yeah like what?

BAMLike kicking pig faced, elephant snorting, lion chomping backstabbers out of my car.

TOMMYOur car.

BAMOur car!

WILLBam what’s you deal?! Let’s go.

Will and Mia get out of the car. He slams the door shut.

Bam and Tommy sit there in silence.

TOMMYI think you’re too hard with them.

BAMI’m not.

TOMMYYou are.

BAMI’m not. She’s broken his heart way too many times.

TOMMYIt was his choice to get back together with her again. It’s his life.

BAMNo, life is just a complicated reality show created by God. And eventually someone has to be voted off the planet.

Bam starts the car.

BAMI’ve got other stuff to worry about anyways.

TOMMYLike Addie.

BAMYes Addie. I think I’ve found her. And I’m not going to blow it.

TOMMYYeah. Can we go now?

Bam slams on the gas and they’re gone.

CUT TO:

INT. BAM’S ROOM – NIGHT

Bam plops down on his bed with the phone in his hand. He starts to dial while looking off his hand.

He dials until he abruptly stops.

BAMOh no.

CLOSE UP:

BAM’S HAND

The last three number are totally gone.

BAMYou got to be kidding me.

Bam finishes dialing some random numbers. He waits for someone to answer. Someone picks up.

BAMHello, Addie?

A bright pink room, littered with posters, and other girl items, begins erupting in the sound of a ringing phone.

Addie walks into the room and answers the phone.

He drops the phone and starts running.

EXT. ADDIE’S HOUSE – DAY

Addie waits in beach gear, on he drive way. Her attention is grabbed, as a junk station wagon, pulls up to the house.

Bam leaps out and runs up to her. He hugs her.

He hugs her again.

He lets go.

Bam and Tommy walk out of their last class of the day. They stop as Elizabeth blocks the way.

Bam hops off the swing and begins walking through the sand. Tommy swings back and forth in a hypnotic motion, as the sun falls behind him.

Bam is walking through the school.

BAMThis is it. Last day of school. After this three months of laziness, constant urgency of parents to get a job, and everything else that makes life what it is.

EXT. SCHOOL – CONTINUOUS

BAMTonight there’s one giant party and the field. Everyone will be there. I mean everyone. Last night together. At least for three months. Then I’ll be whining again on how much I can’t stand these people.

EXT. SCHOOL PARTY – NIGHT

The party is raging. The music is loud. The teachers are nowhere to be found. Kids dance, eat, and do anything else ever conceived by man.

EXT. PARTY – LATER

The party continuous to rage on. Bam shows up. He’s looking kind of stylish like he has a reason to be here. Which of course he does.

Bam scurries through the crowd. He moves closer to someone’s back.

BAMWill.

He taps the back as Will spins around will Mia in his arms.

WILLOh hey bud. What’s going on?

MIAHey Bam.

Bam doesn’t dignify this with a response.

They pause for an awkward silence.

She smiles. He smiles back, as his eyes gaze into hers.

He turns and barrels his way through the crowd.

EXT. FOOTBALL FIELD – NIGHT

Tommy sits in midfield all by himself. Bam strolls up, hands in pockets, playing it cool.

BAMThis field taken?

TOMMYNah. Be my guest.

Bam sits down next to him.

BAMYou okay.

TOMMYYeah just thinking.

BAMAbout her?

TOMMYOf course.

BAMYou know there are others. Other girls.

TOMMYI know. It’s weird though. I think I found the right girl but I can’t really have her. It’s like a force field keeping me from getting close to her. I get close and the field blocks me from getting to her.

TOMMYExactly. But the thing is I couldn’t get past it. She wouldn’t let me in. She doesn’t let anyone

in. she doesn’t understand that. All I want it to be let in. You can’t explain it to her. She doesn’t listen.

TOMMYBut she should know that I wouldn’t hurt her. Even if she did get hurt, it’s part of life to move on. I mean we’re in high school. This is the time before responsibility takes over and we have to spend our live under rules and regulations. For once I’d like to see her smile like she doesn’t have to have a reason. Just once.

BAMI know. You do know that she’s seriously mental and she’s dragging you down like a sunken battleship.

TOMMYI know, I know. Sometimes being in denial like this actually hides the pain.

BAMThat’s a really bad way of looking at things. You just have to remember two things not to do in life: Never go out with a girl that that lives in a bubble or shower with the door open.

TOMMYThanks. I know but I’m running out of ideas. Why’d you even come anyways? Aren’t you suppose to be with Addie.

She starts walking away as Tommy starts following her. Bam follows slowly behind.

He starts backing up.

They walk together off the field.

We pull back and see that Addie is walking up high on the curb while Bam is walking down in the street. From this angle she kind of looks taller.

INT. BAM’S BEDROOM – MORNING

Bam is asleep in his bed. A figure walks in, sits on the bed. It’s Tommy.

TOMMYBam… Wake up Bam.

Bam rolls over.

TOMMY(sternly)Wake up!

BAM(groggy)What? Leave me alone.

TOMMYIt’s time to get up.

BAMWhy?

TOMMYCause today is the first day of summer.

Bam’s eyes open.

BAM’S BEDROOM/ WILL’S BEDROOM

A MONTAGE BEGINS. IT STARTS WITH THIS SCENE AND LASTS FOR EXACTLY TWO MINUTES AND TWENTY-FOUR SECONDS.

“IN MY LIFE” BY THE BEATLES BEGINS TO PLAY.

They both sit on their beds with a phone. They both dial at the same time. They smile at the same time until they stop. They drop the phone at the same time. There faces turn to horror. Something’s just happened. Something’s just ended.

Tommy pulls up to Elizabeth’s house. He goes to the door. Elizabeth opens

the door and Tommy begins telling her how he feels.

After about ten seconds She starts shaking her head. We can’t tell what she’s saying, but it looks like heartbreak.

She finally shuts the door in his face.

Bam is standing alone, overlooking Addie having fun with her friends, especially one boy, who she kisses.

Bam sits at a table eating lunch. Addie sits down next to him. They start talking hesitantly, before they blow in a shouting match.

Will pulls the station wagon up to Mia’s house. He sprints up to the door. A sign is posted to the front door. It reads:

“Gone to Hawaii. Be back in two weeks”

Then everything is played before us. Happiness. Love. Addie and Bam. Tommy and Elizabeth. Will and Mia. They’re happy. Together. Then it all disappears. Just like that, all that was good is gone.

SONG ENDS AND SO DOES THE MONATGE.

EXT. STREET – DUSK

Bam, Tommy, and Will walk along the street together.

BAMCan you believe it?

TOMMYThat’s so ironic that she didn’t want a boyfriend over the summer and just like that she’s with someone new.

TOMMYAnd Mia leaving too.

WILLYeah don’t rub it in.

Bam glares out as Bo comes storming up to the car. He wields his arms back as he lunges out at the car. He gives a hit right into the hood.

Bo continues to rage against the machine. Again, again, blow after blow.

BONow what huh?!

Bo stops as headlights shine in his face. A red SUV pulls up in front of the station wagon.

EXT. PARK – NIGHT

Bam is just getting to the park, before Tommy and Will catch up.

BAMWhat did I do to deserve this?

TOMMYNothing. It wasn’t your fault.

BAMStill. I risked it. I risked being hated by a half a dozen other people for going out with her. Dou you know that?

TOMMYI know.

BAMShe did it on purpose. She wanted me to be jealous. I know she did. She’s just an evil little person.

Will laughs at this incredibly stupid comment.

BAMFor once I hope my effort last longer than two weeks. I just… I just… hate this park!

He winds and back and gives a soccer style kick to the monkey bars. He collapses to the ground, after connecting with the steel.

He quickly gets back to his feet.

TOMMYDid that hurt?

BAM(cringing from the pain)Not at all.

CUT TO:

EXT. BO’S HOUSE – NIGHT

Bam, Tommy, and Will are sneaking around with burning flashlights, around Bo’s rather large house.

BAMWhat exactly are we doing sneaking round Bo’s house?

WILLI heard that all of them are crashing at his house tonight.

BAMAnd what are we planning to do?

WILLWhatever we can think of.

EXT. BO’S WINDOW – NIGHT

The three are staring through the window. They try to hide themselves, as Bo’s goonies chill in his room.

They duck as they hear a door open.

THROUGH THE WINDOW

Bo walks into his room. He yells at his friends to go to bed, as he shuts the lights off.

Bam looks at his watch. It reads 9:02.

BAMWhy would they be going asleep this early on a Saturday?

Tommy just shrugs his shoulders.

WILLCome on.

They pull back the window screen. Will climbs through first. He gets his right foot over before falling flat on his face. He knocks over lamps and stuff, as we he jumps to his feet.

BAMDude!

WILLSorry.

The rest of them climb in.

INT. BO’S BEDROOM

They stand in Bo’s massively large bedroom. There’s a bunk bed on the far wall. There’s no one on the floor.

BAMWhere are they?

TOMMYI dunno.

They wander through the bedroom up to the bed.

BAMOh my God.

We see three of them in the same bed!

WILLThat is so gross.

BAMGet the camera.

Will takes out a Polaroid camera.

BAMTake the sheets off.

CLOSE UP on a computer screen. It reads: UPLOADING

PULL BACK

To reveal Will sitting at the computer, with Tommy next to him.

WILLPut the next one in.

Bam is standing next to a scanner. He puts in a Polaroid picture. It’s a picture of three boys sharing a bed in their underwear. It’s as simple as that.

BAMGimme the next one.

Tommy slides over the next picture.

WILLYou think the school website is a good place for these?

TOMMYYeah. Perfect.

CUT TO:

EXT. COMPUTER ROOM – DAY

Bam walks out first, followed by Will, and then Tommy. Elizabeth stands against the wall. Tommy stops.

ELIZABETHHad to get your revenge didn’t you?

TOMMYYeah I did. And it feels good too.

Tommy starts into a stride and brisks past her.

EXT. FOOTBALL FIELD – NIGHT

The lights shine brightly.

Two shadows sit on the fifty-yard line. Another shadow walks up and sits next to the others.

Bam, Tommy, and Will sit together.

TOMMYIs this the end? For summer at least?

BAMNo. Too cliché.

TOMMYIs this the beginning?

BAMYeah that’s more like it.

They smile together as we we’re about to CUT TO BLACK, right until the lights go out leaving them in pitch black.
