BACKGOUND OF THE STUDY A hotel is defined as an establishment that provides lodging and services paid on a short-term basis. It may also include additional amenities and facilities such as swimming pools, casinos and so on. Basic structures for a hotel’services are already designed prior to the occupation of its guests. One of these services includes the in-building telephone system and Fire Detection and Alarm System(FDAS), which will be the focus of this study. In accordance with this, minimum provisions for the construction of structures and buildings, such as hotels, have been laid to ensure that the welfare and general interest of the public are observed. In the Philippines, the guidelines that are being used for such is the “Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations of the National Building Code of the Philippines (P.D. 1096)”. it includes the permits needed to be secured in order to erect a building or structure. One of these permits is the electronics permit which covers electronic plans and technical specifications for wired or wireless telecommunications systems, broadcasting systems, including radio and TV broadcast equipment for commercial and training purposes, cable or wireless television systems, information technology (IT) systems, security and alarm systems, electronic fire alarm systems, sound-reinforcement systems, navigational aids and controls, indoor and outdoor signages, electronically-controlled conveyance systems, electronic/computerized process controls and automation systems, building automation, management and control systems.
