I have an appointment with an HCA

not a GP - what can they do?

Wasted Appointments in January 2019

In January there were 610 missed appointments. We urge that if you are unable to make your appointment please let the surgery know, the appointment may be offered to another patient who may need it.

Healthcare assistants or HCAs work in hospital or

community settings, such as GP surgeries, under the

guidance of clinical staff. HCAs play an important

part in delivery a high standard of care to patients at

TMC. They support our GPs and doctors in ensuring

that patients are seen in a timely manner

Some of their responsibilities include:

Giving and discussing results

Completing NHS health checks

Ear syringing

Assisting minor surgeries e.g. coil fitting and implants

Taking blood - Phlebotomy clinics

Health promotion or health education work

Flu/Pneumonia and Shingles vaccinations

B12 vaccinations

ECG’s

Suture/clip removal

Both Trinity Medical Centre and Sandal Surgery will be closed from 12 pm lunchtime on Wednesday 27th February as our teams take part in Target training sessions.
