Registration is the first of three steps in the application process.

To become fully licensed, you will complete a combination of Experience, Education, and passage of an Exam. Registration allows you to legally work in the substance use disorder profession while under supervision by a Certified Clinical Supervisor or Supervisor Intern. This is how you earn Experience.

Associate Status is the second step in the standard LCAS application, known as Criteria A. However, the accelerated Criteria B and C earn their Associate Status upon Registration. You are also eligible to take your Exam when you reach Associate status.

REQUIRED FOR ASSOCIATE (CRITERIA A ONLY):

Due to the multiple criteria for which one can apply to become LCAS, the completion of the license process may vary for each applicant. Below is a list of required materials to complete the LCAS organized by criteria.

VERIFICATION OF 300 HOUR SUPERVISED POST-MASTERS PRACTICUM COMPLETED BY A CCS OR CSI

SUPERVISION AGREEMENT BY A CCS/CSI

EXAMINATION FEE

CRITERIA A E X P E R I E N C E : 4,000 Hours (2 years, post- Masters)E D U C A T I O N : 180 clock hours of SUD specific training, including 6 hours of special topics in addictionsE X A M : Passage of the IC&RC AADC Exam

The 300 Hour Practicum is roughly two months of work experience (based on a 40 hour work week)

where the applicant receives supervision at a ratio of 1 hour for every 10 hours worked.

All Criteria will require three references from current LCAS's or CSAC's with Master's Degrees.
