Battling it out at the Dubai MarinaTable Tennis TournamentYet another fantastic table tennis tournament was hosted at the squash courts in Marina Promenade on 17 November 2017. Now in its second consecutive year, the resident-only tournament was well received and concluded with an exciting final that was highly entertaining.

Players, supporters and table tennis enthusiasts gathered to watch participants bring their A-game to the table in 30 exhilarating matches that witnessed some outrageous feats of skill.

Kwangyoul Lee from Dubai Marina Towers was the winner of the tournament, beating fellow resident Jun Young Kim in a thrilling final.

Squashing the competition at Dubai MarinaWe had an exciting and wonderful community event, the Dubai Marina Squash Championship, on 16 September 2017. Family and friends gathered to watch the fun-filled competitive event that was organized for the residents of Dubai Marina Towers, Park Island, Al Sahab, Al Majara, Marina Quays and Marina Promenade.

Squash enthusiasts played round-robin stages before advancing to quarter, semi-finals and subsequently the finals, with family and friends cheering them on. All 16 games proved to be electrifying, exciting and intense with plenty of skill and tenacity on display.

Emad Deeb won the championship this year, beating Raffy Akmed in a nail-biting final. After the tournament, everyone had the opportunity to meet and mingle on the deck of the Marina Promenade where they were served with food and refreshments. Participants were thrilled to be part of the event and said that they look forward to many more games in the months to come.

A day of fun for little ones Halloween party at Dubai MarinaA kids’ party was held at the outdoor play area in Aurora Tower, providing children and parents with a wonderful opportunity to meet their neighbors and have a wonderful time together.

Raising fire awareness in the communityAs part of our constant drive to prioritize the safety of our occupants, a fire drill was successfully completed in your community in coordination with the Dubai Civil Defence department on 12 October 2017. All the essential services and systems in Park Island performed well, leading to an organized evacuation and an overall successful drill. Around 120 occupants participated and gave us positive feedback about the exercise. An advance notice will be disseminated to the residents for next year’s fire drill.

We hail elevators several times a day, rarely acknowledging the fact that we’re travelling over 30 floors on demand. With the number of residents in the community growing, so has elevator use. In order to prevent mishaps and ensure fair use, it’s important that residents follow certain guidelines.

Stay safe while riding your vertical taxi

• Do not stand between the doors

• Do not attempt to block closing doors

• Do not litter the elevator

• Ensure that children do not stand close to the doors

• Refrain from holding the doors open for a long time

• Do not exceed the elevator’s specified capacity

• Avoid repeatedly pressing buttons

• Do not smoke in the elevator

• Watch your step when entering and exiting

• Allow passengers to alight before entering

Note to Residents: Do not permit movers or maintenance companies to block passenger elevators for transporting goods – only service elevators may be used for this purpose. If there are no service or padded elevators in your building, contact your concierge to arrange for protective padding.

Pets are an important member of the family in most of our communities – but that doesn’t exempt them from the Community Rules! As their owners, here are a few steps you can take to ensure that your beloved companions don’t become a nuisance for your neighbours:

• Always keep your dog on a lead and be aware of your pet’s body language when it’s outdoors.

• Clean up after your pet using appropriate disposal bags and discard them in designated bins. Pet waste poses a health hazard, especially to children.

• Ensure that your pet is trained and well-behaved, especially when outdoors.

• Prevent your dog from barking excessively as it disrupts the community’s peace.

• Close all doors and gates after you to prevent pets from straying into common areas.

• Do not take your pets to recreational areas such as the swimming pool and kids’ play area.

• Avoid leaving your pet unattended in open places, such as the balcony.

Keep your pets well-behaved

Park at your mark Community living calls for a certain code of conduct that all members are expected to follow – this ensures that everybody experiences the highest standard of living. With this in mind, we request all our residents to uphold these values even in the parking lot as we’ve been noticing a number of wrongful parking conducts of late.

• Do not park your vehicle anywhere else apart from your allocated space.

• You may only bring one vehicle into the development for each parking space allocated.

• Do not permit your guests to park their vehicle anywhere within the community apart from the visitors’ parking spaces.

• Ensure that you leave adequate space for your neighbour to comfortably enter and exit their vehicle after you park.

• Do not park at spaces that could hinder refuse collectors from reaching the bins.

• Refrain from parking over the border lines that mark your parking space.

• Do not park in handicapped spaces.

• Do not park at any space besides a designated parking spot as this can restrict access for other residents.
