Hi everyone Today we welcome Waiuku first team, reserves and supporters to Memorial Park. We also welcome back to Memorial Park Cole Devenport. Great to have you back at the Club Cole. Last week we were away to Mt Albert Ponsonby on Friday night. It was a good battle which we lost right at the end. After scoring our only goal, Suni Singh was injured. Suni—we wish you a speedy recovery and hope to see you back on the field soon. This weekend some of our senior teams have games today and tomorrow. Tomorrow, Div 3 lads are away to Tuakau and O35s are home at 1pm to Mount Albert Ponsonby. Get along and support the old boys!!! Best of luck to Hoani Nathan and the team today. See you inside after the game.

First Team Coaches Comments

Hi all, Welcome to Memorial Park for another South Auckland derby. In the first round, Waiuku came away with the win in a tough day at the office for us. The boys know that they need to put in good performances today and in each of the remaining games to show the character required to keep the team from relegation. We definitely have the talent but will take everyone to show a bit of heart and get back on the park and at training's at the same time to recognise our potential. A tough last-minute loss against MAP last week and an injury to one of our key players Suni Singh means this game is even bigger than we hoped it would be. This is the sort of challenge that people either rise of fall and will be where first team spots are cemented. As a special mention, the club welcomes back last year's fan favourite Cole Devenport to the squad. Look forward to a hotly contested game, and see you at the bar after. H & Nath

Div 3 are top of the table and play south Auckland rangers away, will be no doubt a tough game for the lads Div 6 play Three Kings today in front of their supporters and are wanting a much needed win to jump into the top half of the table, the boys have done a great job The Ladies team has had tough times thanks to Karl Miers helping out while Simon has been away on holiday, and will resume duties with a fresh mind and looking for 3 points to put them mid table Over 35’s host Western Springs today and wanting to put 3 points on the board to get their ball rolling again, with a difficult game last week and some disallowed goals so I hear, Gigsy will be on their case and would want 3 points and nothing less I would also like welcome my beautiful wife to NZ. SENIOR REPORT

The Ladies took on a good Bay Olympic side at the weekend. We were

dominant for most of the first half, but couldn’t convert possession and

pressure into goals. We were able to press well up the field thanks to a strong

back four who were able to soak up any counter attacks.

Unfortunately, on one of the few times Bay Olympic got into our penalty box,

an over enthusiastic tackle forced the ref to award a penalty. Despite a good

effort by our keeper getting her hands to the ball, the penalty was converted.

A bit stunned by the goal, we lost a bit of focus and deep into the half we

conceded a second goal. A hallmark of the ladies team is never giving up.

With an injured Vada Miers volunteering to be the custodian, the ladies

worked really hard in the second half. Despite conceding four more goals, the

ladies kept fighting and were rewarded with two goals by the end of the

game.

While the final score was a 2 – 6 loss, it did not reflect the way the ladies

played.

As a coach, it is great to be part of a positive team who gives their all every

week. My thanks also go to Karl Miers for looking after the team while I was

away.

Youth Report

Hi everyone This weekend sees the last weekend of grading rounds for most teams. Unfortunately, some teams have missed a game due to weather and with a tight schedule, they will not be playing the postponed game. From tomorrow the AFF Competitions Team will be forming the competition rounds which should be available on the AFF website by next Thursday. We had the team photos taken at the Club earlier this week. As usual, the whole process ran like clockwork and we got all teams through without too much waiting time. There are a few pictures at the front of the programme that were taken on the night. Thanks to all youth teams with their patience with training grounds. Now that we have use of Randwick Park, we should be set until the end of the season. Today is the first of the new way we are running the Youth Player of the Day. Remember to put you name into the door prize draw of the $50 Westfield voucher. The next Youth Player of the Day will be on 1 August . Best of luck to all Rewa teams today.

Continuing the theme from the previous reports once more – Some More Junior Coaches and it’s great to hear some feedback saying how much people are enjoying learning about these amazing people. We are proud to be 1st time coaches of the 9th grade Wasps team, what a fantastic little team we have, the kids are fun and super keen to get on the field each Saturday, learning to play in positions and with a goalie this year has been tough not to mention tiring with full 30 min halves! But the kids have embraced it and we love seeing them get out there! Michelle and Tony 9th grade Wasps Dave Bell coach of 2015 10th Sharks - The Sharks are currently playing the grading rounds in Div 2, it has been a tough start so far against some outstanding teams , hopefully a win is not too far away (losing has been a new experience for us, but they all say they are having fun). So far we are yet to come up against a team that have any girls (we have three) and they have been showing the boys from other clubs a thing or two. We seem to be very slow in the first half and have let in a few soft goals (While I am refereeing ) then in the second half when I am yelling instruc-tions we pick up our game considerably, the vein in my head still hasn’t burst as yet but we have got close a couple of times. All the kids are playing very well, with special mention to Gabriel King and Micah Robertson for their effort so far. As always a big thanks to all the parents for their support at training and games. Dave Bell assisting 5Th Panthers - I assist Shannon ,Lynda and Marty (yes four coaches for one team ) with the 5th Panthers, this has to be one of the funniest things to be involved in (yes just like herding cats) some games you can have a 5 a side game where only one child is actually playing, seems the WWF is very popular at this age with boys… and you can do it on the ground in the middle of a football field… while the game is underway, we have one little boy who has decided it is more fun having his mum try to work out which direction he is going to run off to next (must be working on his speed and changing of direction skills). If you are interested in helping out on the committee please do not hesitate to contact us on [email protected]

Thank you Manurewa Juniors
