    Greetings from DCIS!

With the wink of an eye , the first semester of the academic year 2016-17 came to an end. The entire six months of the educational journey had many challenges which was shouldered by my team of educators quite well. The months of September and October were quite exciting for all of us because the Students' Council put in their earnest efforts to make Teachers' Day and Navratri a Celebration Unique in its own way. At DCIS, we aim to train the students in a way where they understand the importance of teamwork. Individual efforts are important but aligning the individual efforts to group efforts is ever more significant and that will enable the students to put themselves on a higher pedestal. • Navratri, the nine nights that celebrate the Divine Feminine are a time of great festivity in India, especially in Gujarat. At Divine Child International School several colorrful and exuberant events took place on October 2, 2016. The entire event was organised by the Students' Council and they with their great efforts and hardwork made the event a triumph. The fun and fete cum Dandiya celebrations that took place at DCIS were fabulously setup and marvellously executed. The soul of the function was the school's orchestra The Divine Orchestra wherein students played instruments and sang melodious traditional garba tunes for continuously 2 hours. There were roars of excitement when the divine orchestra followed by the famous Ms Archana Dave and Troupe played melodious tunes of traditional and contemporary songs with talented vocalists. Parents and the students showed great support and made the entire event a huge success. With students and parents organising food stalls and games stall was also a major source of attraction. These stalls catered to the various interest of the visitors. DCIS has always believed that Charity begins at home. So, this year a few stalls were organised by students, parents, teachers and the school authority for the purpose of donating some funds to the needy and poor. Navratri at DCIS was also accompanied by drizzles of rain but this didn't become a reason for the enthusiastic dancers to leave the floors of Garba. Actually the downpour didn't become a reason to stop people from flaunting their garba footworks instead beautified the dance performance of various people. The school also conducted a lucky draw with many exciting gifts. The school also awarded students, parents, groups and also ex-Divinites with prizes for Best Costume, Best Rocking style and Performance by a Group. All the groups performed the Garba with a lot of catchy props like balloons, wheels etc. In all by combining all the elements of attraction at DCIS the celebration of Navratri was a grand success. • Kiddies Gala....THe Theatre Fest

Kiddies Gala The Theatre fest organized @ DCIS, Adalaj

Pre-Schooling is the first step in the educational journey of a child. At DCIS, it is our earnest endeavor to give students a

platform wherein they gain confidence and we give them opportunities for language development and personality

development. th stKeeping this in mind, the pre-primary section organized Kiddies Gala the theatre fest on 20 and 21 of October '16.

The main motive behind conceiving the idea was to help students to get an environment where they learn to face

challenges and try to solve problems on their own. DCIS encourages kids to enhance their acting and speaking skills

and removing their stage fear. Nearly 170 students participated in the theatre fest.

On first day , the students of Sr.Kg rocked the stage with their flawless performances . The students presented a skit

The wide mouthed frog which received massive appreciation where in the students enacted their roles to perfection

and gave the moral that being over-curious may harm us sometimes. They also performed a skit based on the famous

poem The frog and Nightingale penned by Vikram Seth and they gave the message through the skit that self-

confidence is the most important quality in us. They also presented the story about the The stone soup where it was

conveyed by the little wonders that sharing and caring is the essence of life. The first day's program was concluded

with a beautiful fairy tale The Sleeping Beauty. Basically, fairy tales help children to learn how to navigate life and they

even help us to connect to our own lives. It was presented beautifully by the little champs. On second day of the tiny

wonders of nursery presented an action song with full energy and enthusiasm. After that students of Jr.Kg presented a

skit on Good habits and beautifully enacted the story of The proud Red rose. Parents were really astonished to see

the skit of a donkey which gave the moral that everyone of us should be contented with whatever God has blessed us

    with.

Overall the theatre fest was well received by the parents and the whole auditorium echoed with the applause and

appreciation. Parents were wonder-stuck to see their tiny tots perform with so much confidence and perfection.

Kiddies Gala gave an opportunity to every child to bring out the cute actors in them.
