Before joining Weil, she served as deputy assistant director of the Federal Trade Commission Bureau of Competition and has received many awards for legal achievements and innovations. She is an active member of the American Bar Association and the National Bar Association. Laura Wilkinson, a partner at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, is

legal achievements and innovations. She is an active

member of the American Bar Association and the National

Inaugural Class of Thurgood Marshall Opportunity Program Starts May 28

Fueled by Beveridge & Diamond’s initiative and sponsorship, Maryland’s new ThurgoodMarshall Opportunity Program will fund seven law students to work for the Maryland Of-fice of the Attorney General this summer. The internship program starts May 28, so iswell on its way. A diverse panel of six attorneys form the Office of the Attorney Generalreviewed 57 applications from eleven law schools. The selected law student interns hailfrom University of Maryland (five students), University of Baltimore (one student) andHoward University (one student), and will work in various divisions within the AG’s Office.Beveridge & Diamond will host the first in a series of summer programs, an informal wel-come breakfast, on June 7.

Public Forum with Chief Judge Eric T. Washington June 4

The District of Columbia Judicial Nomination Commission (the “Commission”) is

pleased to announce a public forum to meet and hear from Chief Judge Eric T. Wash-

ington, the sole candidate for redesignation as Chief Judge of the District of Columbia

Court of Appeals. The forum will be held on June 5, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, at the

District of Columbia Court of Appeals, Historic Courthouse, 430 E Street NW, Second

Floor, Courtroom 1, Washington, DC 20001. Members of the bench, bar and public are

The 2013 Diversity and Inclusion Summit on June 6-7 in Chicago will bring together NALP

and ALFDP members, diversity professionals, law firm partners, in-house lawyers, career

counselors, legal hiring and training professionals, law school deans, industry consultants,

and other legal career professionals who have an interest in continuing to expand diversi-

ty and inclusion in the legal profession. This year's Summit will focus on "Preparing for the

Future" to answer questions such as — What will the workforce look like in the future?

How will our work change? What will inclusion mean as the demographics of our world

Minority In-House Counsel Assn. First Annual Conference, June 12-14, Chicago

From June 12-14, the Minority In House Counsel Association (MIHCA) will be hosting its

first Annual Conference at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago. The purpose of the con-

ference will be to introduce important business and legal skills necessary for success in

today's global and ever changing legal environment and to provide both knowledge and

leadership skills regarding business principles and analysis. Business sessions will be

presented in partnership with professors from Northwestern's Kellogg Business School.

Generation Hope Gala, June 28

Generation Hope, a nonprofit organization which helps teen parents in the D.C. Metro

area earn college degrees, is hosting "Pep Rally Under the Stars," a fun-filled and elegant

evening to celebrate another amazing year of the Scholar Program, including 11 young

mothers on their way to a degree, awesome outreach to teen parents in high school, and

more Scholars to come in the 2013/2014 academic year! This year's keynote speaker is

Academy Award Nominated Actress and D.C. Native Taraji P. Henson. The evening is a

mix of college spirit with glitz and glam so pull out your alma mater or favorite college

memorabilia and wear it along with your best attire! You can expect great food, good

the School from 1970 to 1974, and with his passing the Miller family endowed a scholar-

Environmental Attorney, US Postal Service

This position will be the lead environmental attorney for the United States Postal Service.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice to postal execu-
