Xion DiVAS Live forms the platform for telemedicine and facilitates audio visual commu-

nication inside and outside operating theatres. Image data from various video sources

can be displayed on one monitor using picture-in-picture technology, e.g. to view en-

doscopy images and images from an operating room camera simultaneously.

If a second opinion is required during an operation, it is possible to obtain it on the

virtual way. For example, a head of department can follow an operation from any net-

work-connected workplace and, if required, provide consultancy. This means that the

consultant no longer needs to be present in the operating theatre; an important fact

particularly in time-critical situations.

Furthermore, DiVAS Live is ideal for teaching and coaching purposes. Live images can

be simulcast from an operating theatre to conference rooms, lecture theatres and con-

ventions. This also implies communication between the attending physician and the

All XION therapy and diagnostic systems can be interlinked via the

digital video archiving and evaluation system DiVAS and/or inte-

grated into the hospital information system (HIS) and the picture

archiving and communication system (PACS) via standard interfaces

(DICOM, HL7).

This means that all image, video and measured data can be viewed,

processed, compared to preliminary examinations and analyzed at

different workplaces within a clinic. For best possible information

of the surgeon, for example during an operation, captured x-ray

and endoscopy images can be displayed on additional monitors and

compared to the live image. The image data captured during an ex-

amination or operation will automatically be attached to a patient’s

record over the digital networking. They can be evaluated at any

time, even from the comfort of an offi ce desk, and integrated into

the medical report. Inter-divisional therapy planning and follow up

of the therapy progress become simpler and more transparent. All

image data can be quickly and effi ciently prepared for further educa-

tion, training courses or conventions.

In order to cope with the increasingly complex re-

sponsibilities in clinics and practices, users must be
