Family First Chiropractic is grow-ing as fast as the family that started it. In the 10 years since Drs. Chae

and Monya Tracy opened their family-focused clinic in Dripping Springs, they’ve tripled the size of the facility and staff — and added two daughters and a son to their own family. In this New Year, they’ll add a new South Aus-tin clinic to the family.

Dr. Jonathan Schultz is leading the foray to the new location near Ben White Boulevard and Banister Lane. A recent graduate of Parker University in Dallas (the same school Drs. Chae and Monya attended), “Dr. J.” shares the Tracys’ fo-cus on prevention and wellness and will use it as the foundation for treatment in the new location.

“I am focused on using chiroprac-tic as part of a bigger wellness picture.

My goal is to get in front of chronic dis-ease to create the healthiest human pos-sible,” he says.

Dr. J. describes the nervous system as the major communication route for the body and says it needs to be regular-ly checked and adjusted “just like your teeth or car oil.” Once all the parts of the body are communicating well, he adds soft tissue (fascia, tendons, ligaments, muscles) therapy and active rehab (ex-ercises that strengthen and lengthen tis-sues) to the routine.

“We front-load the treatment, so it’s more intense and frequent in the begin-ning, with fewer visits later on as the body stabilizes,” Dr. J. explains. During the long-term maintenance phase, fit-ness training, nutrition counseling, and awareness of environmental toxins are added in. See FAMILY FIRST CHIROPRACTIC, page 2

Dr. J. says he chose to work with the Tracys because “I felt the energy and love bouncing around in these walls. They really care about the whole person and I want to be part of it.”

As the name implies, Family First Chiropractic treats everyone in the family — from newborns to great-grandparents. A full 20 percent of their patients are under the age of 18. “It’s a lot easier to raise a healthy kid than to fix a broken adult,” Dr. Chae often says.

“Look at people’s posture next time you’re in the grocery store,” he suggests. “Posture habits are developed at an ear-

ly age. It’s a lot easier to make postural changes early, when the growth plates aren’t fully fused, than later. As the twig is bent, so grows the tree.”

Chiropractic adjustments on young children can reduce and alleviate com-mon childhood problems such as colic and ear infection, Dr. Chae says. “The nerves in the spine control all the or-gans, and aligning the cervical, or upper region of the spine can have a beneficial effect on the eyes, ears, nose and throat.”

Children who suffer from asthma benefit from adjustments to the thoracic

By LaureL robertson

It’s a problem you might have to be from Dripping Springs to appreciate: What to wear to Saturday afternoon’s

rodeo, and then to the gala that evening? There are a number of answers to that question — that is, if you’re shopping at Ranch 2 Runway in Dripping Springs.

For the past two years, owner Dani-elle Lombino has filled her store with imaginative apparel and accessories just right for everything from goat roping to Suits and Boots - in other words, your regular Dripping Springs events. She calls the unique style “Hill Country vin-tage” and says it’s a reflection of “who we are out here.”

“We carry clothing for trail riding, team roping, galas, Hill Country-style weddings and dance halls,” says the willowy cowgirl - who trail rides, team ropes, rodeos, and two-steps at dance

halls herself in her off time. The backbone of Ranch 2 Runway’s

collection are clothes that spring from Danielle’s own Western crossover style, including lots of fringe, lace, sparkles, and turquoise.

“Everybody loves turquoise...” she says with a smile. She also offers west-ern style purses, wallets, belts (with plenty of leather tooling and metal stud work), with jewelry, candles, pillows, gifts and metal art sprinkled through-out the store.

Danielle has added authentic Old West style clothes to her inventory, including women’s camisoles, blous-es, skirts, and vests and men’s shirts and vests.

While the vintage style garb is cre-ated mainly for the western re-enact-ment crowd, Danielle reports that more and more people are buying the lace dresses, large-sleeve shirts, brocade vests and accessories for Hill Country style weddings.

Danielle opened Ranch 2 Runway in 2013 after several disappointing shop-ping trips to Austin western wear stores in hopes of finding apparel with the Western flair that she loves.

The mortgage broker (who owns her own firm) did a trial run of her eclectic style at Wimberley Market Days. The re-sponse was so overwhelming she opened her brick-and-mortar store in Dripping Springs within a few short months.

Her fashion and marketing vision for Ranch 2 Runway were confirmed the day the wife of a Cavender’s executive, in desperation of finding something to wear to a gala, came into her store.

“She was so stressed when she came in, and so happy by the time she left with what she found here,” Danielle says with quiet amusement.

Danielle employs an experienced sales staff, but her favorite helper is un-doubtedly her husband, George Lom-bino. “He helps out when I need it, and then leaves me to my vices and tolerates anything I want to do. He also makes a great model,” she says with a grin.
