I installed one recently, and get about 33 channels pointed N-NE. You'll get DC, Baltimore, and the Tidewater area. If you have a rotor and point it West, you'll get Richmond. I used a model HD8200XL antenna from www.xtremeSignal.com, which is rated at 70 miles. There are larger and more expensive (better) antennas up to 150 miles from www.channelmaster.com. I chose the components, and worked with Brad Shuff to get it installed. Total cost of parts depends on how much you want to spend, but I spent about $350 (not including installation). If you're paying $100/month for cable or satellite, the switch to over the air signals will pay for itself in a few months. Most all of the over the air channels are in HD with a beautiful picture. In casually asking Rebecca’s recently if she had a marine fire extinguisher she beat them on both Price and Time to get. Price $20 plus tax versus Amazon lowest at time of $28.57 (shipping was free). Third area is the time I had to spend convincing the Amazon supplier that the item wasn't safe to return. She was able to order from a supplier get the next morning. Lesson learned: Definitely if you are looking for various types of marine supplies ask Rebecca. She has catalog you can look at. She gets the next day (I don’t know the cutoff time.) Although a very serious disease, it is important to note that modern-day treatment allows for up to 2-weeks after exposure to seek medical treatment that is 99.99% effective in preventing onset of the disease. Since 1995, there have been 43 human fatalities from rabies nationwide, almost all of which were associated with bat exposure. Only one case involved a fox and one case involved a raccoon. However, it is very important that any exposure of humans or pets to a potentially rabid animal should be immediately reported to the Virginia Department of Health.
