THE FLASH APPEAL IN ACTION: THE CASE OF THEPHILIPPINES
Following Tropical StormWashi in the Philippines in 2011, theUNandhumanitarian partners issued a Flash Appeal25 calling for US$ 28.6 million tosupport theGovernment of thePhilippines to respond to theserioushumanitarianneedscaused bythestorm. TheFlash Appeal aimed to provideclean water fordrinking and bathing, food, emergency, shelter, and essential household itemsto471,000 of the worstaffected peoplein Cagayan deOroand Iligan cities for three months.26
