The Mackay Hospital and Health Service (Mackay HHS) has eight hospitals, two Multi-Purpose Health Services and two additional community health services that employ more than 2000 staff. The organisation is now seeking to appoint an Executive Director Finance, Procurement and
Infrastructure responsible for ongoing organizational performance, strategic advice and
leadership in the delivery of finance, procurement and infrastructure across the Mackay
HHS. The successful incumbent of this role will report to the Chief Executive and be part of
the senior executive team of the organization.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
• Leadership experience in a health service in a corporate services / finance environment
• Appropriate tertiary qualifications in business or accounting

The region covers Sarina in the south, Clermont in the west, and Bowen and the Whitsunday Islands in
the northeast. It services approximately 182,000 people in an area of approximately 90,000km2.

In addition, Proserpine Hospital, (located in the Whitsundays) is a 33 bed facility offering acute,
maternity and surgical services.

To reflect the growing demand for health care in the region, the Mackay Base Hospital has been
redeveloped, at a cost of $408 million, which will increase the bed capacity from the current 180 beds to
208 beds.
The redeveloped hospital is a digital hospital and is equipped with leading edge technology to assist staff
to provide the highest level of care and comfort to our patients. The hospital provides specialist services
in obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, orthopaedics, psychiatry, urology and oncology and many other
specialty areas. New services implemented in late 2013 include a Cardiac Catheter Laboratory and an
MRI scanner.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FINANCE PROCUREMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE POSITION PURPOSE
The Executive Director Finance Procurement and Infrastructure is a senior Executive position
reporting directly to the Mackay Hospital and Health Service Chief Executive for ongoing
organisational performance, strategic advice and leadership in the delivery of finance, procurement
and infrastructure across the Mackay HHS.
The position works with the wider Mackay HHS Executive to ensure financial stewardship and
governance arrangements are in place to meet financial targets and ensure MHHS sustainability in
the delivery of health services to the community.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The key accountabilities and responsibilities of the Executive Director are:
• Leadership and management with a strong focus on providing high level advice andsupport to the Chief Executive, the Board and other Executives on strategic and operationalmatters. Lead effective financial, asset and infrastructure management across all the portfolioareas of Mackay HHS.
• Strategic Planning including contributing to the development and implementation of theMackay HHS Strategic Plan. Develop annual operating plans for the portfolio and driveinnovation in service delivery through business improvement and service redesign programs.
• Financial /Procurement / Infrastructure including development of capital andoperating budgets, maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring regular financial reportingsystems are in place. Oversee the management of assets, facilities and the strategic ICT service.

The ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
