We hope to continue working with you at future events. We will continue implementing the 7 Habits of Happy Kids within The Leader in Me by Stephen Covey. This month we will focus on habit 2, “Begin With the End in Mind,” which focuses on planning ahead and setting goals. The process of setting goals is important for student achievement. It provides students the opportunity to choose the direction they want to go in and what they want to achieve. Goal setting gives students long-term vision and short-term motivation. By setting goals and measuring their achievements, students are able to understand what they have achieved and what they are capable of tackling. We encourage all of our parents to set personal goals with your child at home and a method to monitor their progress toward reaching those goals. Explain to your kids that goals do not have to be long, difficult tasks. Allow your kids to choose their own goals and provide plenty of praise or rewards once those goals are met. –Flore-Nadeige B. Assistant Principal Corner Mr. Williams’ Wise Words:

Announcements

Our October The Leader in Me 7 Habits theme is Begin With the End in Mind. This habit is one of the most important habits that we should follow every day. You should always have a goal that you want to reach. After you set that goal, now do the things necessary to reach that goal.   For example, maybe your goal is to get a higher grade in reading. How do you achieve that goal? First you must make a plan. The plan that you make may involve reading more, studying more, practicing more, being a better son or daughter, being a better friend. Whatever your goal is, make sure that you create a plan, follow through on the steps within your plan, and always start each day with the end, or achieving your goal in mind. -Mr. Kevin G. Williams, Assistant Principal
